About this deal

The companies that Jarvis is discussing in this book aren't necessarily companies consisting of one person, he has just used that as an umbrella term for companies that choose to stay small, keep overheads to a minimum, work smarter rather than harder, and not chase unsustainable growth. Companies of one should be normalized because you will always be better than anyone at looking out for your own best interest, even in a large corporation. Brian Clark: All right, Everyone, you can’t read the book yet, but you’re probably living the company of one already. If you are looking to learn what it takes to start your own business with minimal resources, Company of One is a great book.

While I love MailChimp and I think it’s an amazing software platform, there are so many places where there’s room for improvement, and I figured out how to hack that system. Silicon Valley are like drug dealers: it starts out free, then you get hooked, then you’re not paying to get high any more, you’re just paying to feel normal. At that point, it was like, “I may not even get a book deal, and then to my entire list I’m going to look like a newb who thought that he could get a book deal, but then completely couldn’t even find an agent that would want to work with him. BEN CHESTNUT, CEO and founder of MailChimp "Company of One will give you invaluable insights to focus on the purposeful, interesting, and impactful work you actually love doing, right alongside permission to stop blindly chasing growth by defining success on your own terms.I think the French were here first and then the English came and then the English beat the French in a war, and then they took everything other than Quebec and then they started… I’m a bad Canadian. Which is good, because I find that if I have to do the same thing over and over every day, that’s why I don’t want to work for somebody else.
