I also needed to decide how much of an angle I wanted the ladder to lean. I ended up going with a 15-degree angle. This seemed like a good amount to make it easy enough to climb and keep it out of the bathroom doorway that is right beside the bunk bed. Once I had the ladder built, I filled all the nail holes with wood filler.
