Omar Afif - Gnawa Trance Fusion // Pianodrome Live Guest - Pianodrome - Edinburgh

Wild and wonderful #Pianodrome house band Sink bring you to life with a full spectrum of new music and movement in their traveling 100-seat amphitheatre made entirely from upcycled pianos. With different guest acts each night and a specially designed light show, spend an evening at the biggest small venue in town. Take a seat in our gigantic walnut mahogany musical hug. Two shows in one. A festival within a festival. Intimate. Epic. 'The best thing I’ve ever seen' (Amanda Palmer). SinkThrough improvisation, and a commitment to pushing boundaries, S!nk create new sonic horizons - whirlpools of sound will hold you by the mind and spin you. A mixture of written tunes and spontaneous compositions embrace the moment, arising at the edge of time.'Your life will be enhanced' (Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3).Omar Afif- Gnawa trance fusion ScotlandFronted by Moroccan lead singer and guembri player Omar Afif, Gnawa Trance Fusion play a roots fusion of Gnawa blues, psychedelic jazz and afrobeat. Baladinda (wooden xylophone), endongo (thumb piano), violin, krakeb (metal castanets), guitar, drumkit, and the gnawa bass-lute (guembri) unify to create this entrancing world music sound. Gnawa music has a preserved heritage of ritual Sufi poetry and dance. These are performed at entire communal nights of spirituality and healing called Lilas, where audience members can enter trance states. This event is part of the Made In Scotland showcase. www.madeinscotlandshowcase.com. This performance is 'relaxed'.
