About this deal

Dark Angels Leviathan Dreadnought Venerable-Praefectus Coriolanus, the Archon of Stone, during the Horus Heresy.

As with Indomitus, Leviathan comes with an extra-large transfer sheet for some possible Space Marine armies. Indomitus buyers found themselves the owners of a transfer sheet containing chapter-specific marking for Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Dark Angels. This list has been extended even further this time, however, as Leviathan buyers will gain transfers for Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Raven Guard, Imperial Fists and a selection of more generic marking that can be used across all chapters. It is a gorgeous miniature and easily the most impressive thing on the Tyranid side of the box, surpassing even the awesome Neurotyrant. There are, however, a few things to be aware of with this mini, chief amongst which are its gaps and seams. Heldrake • Stormbird • Thunderhawk • Chaos Storm Eagle • Chaos Fire Raptor • Hell Blade • Hell Talon • Harbinger • Chaos Dreadclaw • Kharybdis Assault Claw • Fire Lord • Doom Wing The Space Marines are the Emperor’s Angels of Death, vengeful warriors who have sworn an oath to protect the beleaguered Imperium from all assailants. As the jaws of Hive Fleet Leviathan close on the Galactic West, they’ve got their work cut out for them, and are deploying new units to combat the Tyranid threat. Captain in Terminator Armour But this isn’t completely true for all the units on this sprue, however, as the Barbgaunts are a little bit meaner. You ever wondered what an RPG would look like if it was made out of meat and bone? Well, wonder no more!

The Dreadnought

Leviathan includes over 70 miniatures and a hefty rulebook, but it's not designed as a starter set for newcomers. | Image credit: Games Workshop It’s a new Edition, so you know what that means – a whole box full of new plastic models, ready for you to unleash on your opponents. In 10th Edition we’ve got (surprise) Space Marines on one side and (actual surprise) Tyranids on the other, pitting ceremite, boltgun and flamer against a monstrous horde of bio-bugs. A storied and stalwart warrior protected by a sacred suit of Tactical Dreadnought armour, this Captain is a resilient commander who excels at leading Terminator strike forces deep into enemy lines. Librarian in Terminator Armour

These tougher-than-tough Space Marines have been in dire need of a new kit for several years now, and Leviathan delivers them with a great deal of class. Similar in some ways to the popular Bladeguard Veterans, the new Sternguard take everything that was cool about the original Sternguard Veterans and brings them into the 2020s – with a few obvious homages to their original sculpts. The Neurotyrant has all the look of a model that should be difficult to build, but as you’ll be able to see from a cursory glace at the sprue above, this isn’t true. It has a few smaller parts, such as its forelimbs (or whatever they are), but on the whole, this is still a very easy to assemble mini. Warhammer 40K always seem to place a strong emphasis on flexibility, and Leviathan doesn't fall short. With the set's extensive customization possibilities, you can tailor your army to your desired playing style. You can build an army that reflects your individual strategic vision using the multitude of weapons, accessories, and upgrades available to you. This opens up countless opportunities for both casual play and intense competitions. An Enhanced Rulebook Whilst pessimists and cynics will argue that half of Leviathan is wasted on the “same old Space Marine” kinda stuff, take a closer look. These minis look better than they ever have done before, and the re-birthing of the much-loved Terminators into the modern era will have Space Marine fans the world over desperate to get their hands on these kits. And besides, those same cynics can’t argue that the Tyranid half of the box isn’t new and exciting – because there are some models in there that prove the future is very bright for Warhammer 40,000 – Tyranids in particular. The stat lines for each figure and unit are also included in the construction guide. The guide first takes you through the new Space Marines before providing you with their statistics, then moves on to the Tyranid builds and finally finishes off with their stats too.

No matter what you’re into – D&D, Pathfinder, Bolt Action, Kings of War, Age of Sigmar, any other board game or TTRPG – stop whatever it is you’re doing, put your dice and cards down, and pay attention. The gold standard for the next few years is likely about to be set. In my opinion, the new Tyranids are arguably the best Tyranid models ever released. They feature more defined and exaggerated musculature compared to their predecessors, with significantly enhanced texture on their carapaces. Moreover, the new Termagants boast updated proportions and now come on 28mm bases. Personally, they are my favourite models from the entire set. Leviathan Tyranids Barbgaunts and Neurogaunts sprue Leviathan book & core rules first look Ever so slightly bigger are Termagants, a returning classic. These are a bit more capable in their own right than Neurogaunts, as they’ve actually grown some guns, able to select from three different weapon profiles (all AP0 D1, but with different ranges, shots, and in the case of Spinefists Assault and Twin-linked). They’re also a bit tougher with a 5+ save and have OC 2, so the Marines are going to need to wade through a good number to clear an objective. That’s particularly true because of the Skulking Horrors ability, which lets them make a Normal Move of d6” when an enemy ends a move within 9” of them once per turn. This is a little less reliable than the Marine Lieutenant’s version, but can let them pile a few more bodies onto an objective at a key moment or scurry out of charge range.

Within this colossal box, you'll discover a total of 72 brand-new miniatures, divided between the Space Marines and the Tyranids. Among them, the Emperor's Angels of Death are magnificently represented by an unstoppable Captain adorned in formidable Terminator Armor, a Librarian also clad in Terminator Armor, a Primaris Lieutenant donning Phobos Armor, a skilled Apothecary Biologis, five towering Terminators, five Sternguard warriors, a precision-focused Ballistus Dreadnought, and a group of 10 Infernus Marines wielding powerful pyreblasters. All of the models in Leviathan are new to 40k, with fresh takes on familiar units - such as Space Marine Terminators - and a surprisingly impressive redesigned transfers sheet. | Image credit: Games Workshop The Blood Angels and their successors continue to be plagued with Leviathan, as seen with the Angel's Halo campaign. [18] Carab Culln of the Red Scorpions Chapter after his transformation into a Relic Leviathan Dreadnought known as "Carab Culln the Risen". During the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy the Leviathan Dreadnoughts of the Legiones Astartes featured different weapon loadout options than those relics still found during the 41st Millennium.Wielding a combi-weapon and two combat blades, this Phobos-armoured Lieutenant can infiltrate ahead of the main Space Marine force, sowing discord among his enemies and disrupting their battle lines. Sternguard Veteran Squad The new swole Apothecary ( who fares very poorly in the Cinematic Trailer), the Lieutenant in Phobos Armour ( who fares significantly better ) and the Sternguard Veteran Squad all arrive on the same sprue. If you’re struggling to tell the components apart, do take a look at the image below. The Apothecary is in red, the Lieutenant is in purple, and the Sternguard are in green and blue. We would like to say thanks to Games Workshop for furnishing us with this review copy of Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan. Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan Review – Availability & Tenth Edition Starter Sets? Hive Fleet Leviathan invaded the galaxy from below the galactic plane, taking the Milky Way's defenders completely by surprise.

On top of that, you’ll get the core rules for Warhammer 40,000, and the rules – as well as specially designed missions – for the new Combat Patrol game format. You’ll also find a full complement of Crusade rules to get your narrative campaigns up and running ahead of Codex releases, and a full Crusade expansion that delves into the story of the Fourth Tyrannic War through a series of linked campaign games. The Winged Tyranid Prime is a hideous alpha-beast that combines strength with agility, swooping above the battlefield and identifying targets to descend upon and tear apart with razor-sharp talons. Neurotyrant Dreadnought ( Castraferrum Dreadnought • Siege Dreadnought • Hellfire Dreadnought • Ironclad Dreadnought • Venerable Dreadnought • Mortis Dreadnought • Chaplain Dreadnought • Librarian Dreadnought • Furioso Dreadnought • Death Company Dreadnought • Redemptor Dreadnought ( Brutalis Dreadnought • Ballistus Dreadnought) • Wulfen Dreadnought • Doomglaive Dreadnought) • Nemesis Dreadknight • Invictor Tactical WarsuitAll of the minis in Leviathan are completely new, though there is a strong feeling of updated classics running through the selection. The Ballistus Dreadnought is the Primaris upgrade to the old lascannon and missile launcher-armed Dreadnought, bringing it in line with the melee-flavoured Brutalis and all-rounder Redemptor models, while the Sternguard Veterans and assorted Terminator-armoured models are new and improved versions of Space Marine stalwarts. The Terminator squad in particular embody an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy and feel very much like the minis we know and love, just upscaled to fit in with the Primaris Space Marines of the past few years. It’s less pronounced on the Tyranid side, who have a lot more brand new beasties, but the Screamer-Killer and Termagants both have that feeling of just being the way they should have always been. Standing over 90 metres tall, the Leviathan has enough cargo room to hold over 2 full companies of guardsmen and all their wargear. Each Leviathan contains extensive communication and surveillance equipment, including satellite uplink capabilities and mobile nanobots used for reconnaissance and espionage that allow an Astra Militarum colonel and his command staff to coordinate the movements of an entire Astra Militarum regiment at the same time.
