About this deal

Eric contributes singing vocals to the opening song "Fathoms Below", and performs two solo songs: "Her Voice", a song about Eric's obsession with Ariel's voice that had been written for the original film but discarded, and "One Step Closer", a new song where Eric helps Ariel express herself through dance. Eric also provides vocals in the quartet "If Only", where he expresses confusion over his attraction to Ariel, and his fear that if he finds the girl with the right voice, he might lose Ariel. The story was absolutely wonderful! A beautiful tale of curses (yes, Eric is ALSO cursed in this book!), adventure (ghost ships!), and romance- Ariel and Eric try and learn their own sign language together, how cute is that?! In the ending credits, Eric and Ariel, having finally become human, are seen getting married in a ceremony gathered with humans and merpeople where they eventually kiss.

What I loved about this book is it took the story of the Disney film and added so many extra elements. The story is told from Eric's perspective. We learn that he too is cursed and can't kiss anyone but his true love or else he dies. New elements of Ursula's power are added and creates a much stronger world building than what we were given in the 1989 film. Hey MTV, welcome to my crib! My name is Eric, and you wouldn’t know this at first but I’m a prince and this is my castle. My mom is a force ghost and my girlfriend is a fish but don’t forget, I’m just a regular guy that just wants adventure in the great wide somewhere. There were a few parts of this book that I felt were rushed or something was over and done in one line. I wish there had been more descriptions and actions written during those times. Pocahontas: Pocahontas • Flit • Meeko • Percy • Grandmother Willow • Governor Ratcliffe • Colors of the Wind PocahontasIn The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure, Eric can be seen during the "Kiss the Girl" sequence and the finale as an audio-animatronic. So the problem I ran into with this book isn't the story itself. If I had never seen Little Mermaid or only had a middling opinion of it, this would probably be a 5-star read for me, definitely a full 4 stars. Captain Sauer: Pirate captain who raids the kingdom of Vellona and any passing ship without drawing blood to avoid the Blood Tide.

This book is also inclusive without feeling forced. One character, Gabriella, is a lesbian, while another character, Sauer, uses they/them pronouns. Both Gabriella’s sexuality and Sauer’s pronouns are no big deal. It’s treated so normally that it actually took me a while to notice Sauer’s pronouns. Coco: Miguel Rivera • Héctor • Dante • Imelda • Pepita • Alebrije Dante • Disguised Miguel • Ernesto • Mama Coco In Fantasmic!, Eric joins Ariel and other Disney couples during the princess-themed medley. He also makes an appearance riding Steamboat Willie during the show's finale. More than just The Little Mermaidfrom a different point of view, Prince of Song & Seaadds its own twist to Prince Eric’s story through a curse that was placed on him as a child. His mother, Queen Eleanora, upset an evil witch when he was born. In retaliation, she cursed baby Eric with the threat of death if he ever kisses anyone other than his true love. With his mother no longer beside him and a fast approaching coronation, Eric is under pressure to find a bride to secure the future of his kingdom Vellona, but a wedding day kiss could prove fatal if he doesn’t find someone who matches the witch’s description – a girl with a voice as pure as her heart. This book was just fine in the long run. Eric has a curse which I think pairs well with the original but everything that has been added for “more Eric content” just doesn’t make sense. Like I’m sorry that boat scene around the 70-80% mark was ridiculous. Prince of Song and Sea is the first of a series of YA retellings told from the perspective of the Disney Princes. This one is, of course, about Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. I have never read any of these Disney retellings as I always thought I was outside the target demographic. But because The Little Mermaid was my favorite Disney movie from childhood, I just had to get this. Alice in Wonderland: Alice • Mad Hatter • March Hare • Dormouse • White Rabbit • Cheshire Cat • Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee • Queen of Hearts • King of Hearts • Caterpillar • Dinah • Oysters

Disney's Sleeping Beauty 1959 is my favorite animated movie of all time. I love the aesthetic of the film, the music, the character design, the scary lighting on Maleficent. It's art.Frozen: Elsa • Anna • Olaf • Sven • Kristoff • Marshmallow • Grand Pabbie • The Fire Spirit • Elsa the Snow Queen • Queen Anna • Diamond Elsa • Young Anna • Citrine Anna • Opal Olaf As the story continues according to the movie we all know, Eric gets to know Ariel more while also worrying about the curse that threatens his life.
