About this deal

Very well said! I skim over his writing style because there’s so much else to focus on, but oh god. Thanks for adding your thoughts to the mix Adam! Vera Harlow is a survivor. After a chance encounter led to her being held captive in a disgusting house of horrors, she fought tooth and nail to escape the clutches of a man known only as The Slob. But while she may have fled the disastrous situat...

Aron Beauregard, The Slob and Yellow : r/horrorlit - Reddit Aron Beauregard, The Slob and Yellow : r/horrorlit - Reddit

I should feel bad for Vera, with all she endured at the hands of The Slob and her life in this book. But I was kinda mad at her. She chose to have Harold but she didn't love him. I'm a little confused on how I feel about this book. Not confused on if I liked it or not, I absolutely did love this book. But I'm confused on my feelings for the characters. Aron Beauregard as everyone know is a master in term of Splatterpunk. I love his book, but this one hit differently, yes it's disgusting, yes its gore, everything you expect from him, but I felt connected to the characters, I wanted them to survive (and I don't even like kids). The story is more heartfelt, more psychological than most book I read from him. And without a doubt I loved it. I think you need this book.I don’t wanna describe the “horrendous torture” that Vera experienced at the hands of the Slob in great detail because I feel like I’m gonna throw up if I do. Truly, a journey to savour, and smell and taste and feel...the pure disgusting, filthy baseness of it all. When a band of dysfunctional children is suddenly thrust into a diabolical realm of violence, they must grow up instantly to have a chance at survival. Will they find a way to put their differences aside, or be swallowed up by the insidious architecture all around them?

Hello! I read a lot of extreme horror, so I doubt I’m a prude or a pussy. I just really hated The Slob. Not even from a plot point of view, just in terms of writing. Aron Beauregard’s writing is incredibly, mind-numbingly, tearing-your-hair-out-to-feel-something-ly boring. It’s also hideously misogynistic, as well as homophobic, but if you at least skim-read the review above you’d know that. You know when you can just tell something is done wrong because you’ve seen it done right before? This book is a great example of that. Read something decent. Even Twilight would be better than this. I’ve read quite a lot of disturbing novels in my time, and very few can compare to Aron Beauregard’s work in terms of cliched, low-quality writing. This is being done so that gay men could...eat human meat from women to be less feminine? Or more feminine? I was so confused and mad that I can't remember which it was. It made zero sense with the rest of the plot of the book. My problem with this book was the writing style. I absolutely hated it! Everything had an adjective. EVERYTHING. And damn near every time, alliteration was involved. Odd words were often chosen, often reaching, just for the alliteration. It was a constant thing that got really annoying, really fast. And then I heard it was nominated for a Splatterpunk Award – which is not only well-deserved validation for the work, but also pretty damn impressive if you consider it is a self-published book. The Slob has received critical praise and as a result, has been nominated for the 2021 Splatterpunk Awards!

Three low-income families have been given a handsome retainer to join Geraldine Borden for a day at her cliffside estate. All the parents must do to collect the rest of their money is allow their children to test out the revolutionary playground equipment Geraldine has been working on for decades. But there’s a reason the structures in the bowels of her gothic castle have taken so long to develop—they were never meant to see the light of day.

the Slob by Aron Beauregard | Goodreads Son of the Slob by Aron Beauregard | Goodreads

Always bleak, explicitly graphic and extreme in content, this story can be considered a masterpiece in this genre and can be enjoyed by all fans and followers of this particular brand of horror story. Pure genius! The Slob by Aron Beauregard brings forth an unpleasant reality of intimate violation and torment. The reader should be aware physical violence and horrendous acts of defilement is a common thread throughout this splatterpunk novella. At the heart of this story, one can't help but develop a connection and just feel every gut wrenching punch as each child must make their choices.Muahaha!! Muahaha!! Muahaha!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😈 You’ll have to discover it, like I did. But just let me tell you, this Harold boy, is so disgusting you can’t even imagine it. My empathy for him died, even before it had a chance to live, when I watched him play by himself through his mother eyes. Then he disgusted me even more when I watched him play with rats, which are his favorite pets, (sort of😆) through Daniel’s eyes . SOME STAINS DON'T COME OUT... Raised in a household so filthy it was stomach-spilling, Vera involuntarily evolved into a neat freak. Upon discovering she and her disabled husband Daniel are expecting, she needs fast cash. Her obsession with cleanliness sprouts the concept that her skills can be put to use in a unique way. She takes a stab at the booming door-to-door vacuum sales business of 1988. Yep, loved 'The Slob' and loved 'The Son of Slob' too, so cannot wait to find out what the master, that is AB, has in store for us next. Everything was going well until the doorstep to hell opened for her. It would’ve been a completely different story had Edward Scissorhands was the one at the other side of the door but alas! It was a giant-fetid-dirt-ridden-slob! Ew.
