I was so happy to read the growth of Ava accepting herself and realising she was good enough with or without a man and just living for the moment. She is passionate and strong, a woman who has it all and wants more, but her professional success and fearlessness are a foil to her vulnerability and inner demons. The gold spine sadly didn’t hold up too well but I read this in 30 degree heat and it got covered in sunscreen. Large parts of this novel, including the graphic sex and the supposedly sexy flirty texts/messages are simply repetitive, boring and monotonous. Its so refreshing to have a read where a main character is frank about sex, sex drive and honesty about what she wants.
