About this deal

Such an aggressive tactic shouldn’t be used in every case, of course, but it should be an option in the T’au player’s toolkit. Your superior eco and hammerheads should carry you eventually but keep an eye out for sneaky dreadnought drops on top of your cities.

Note that while the keyword for having FtGG is Tau Empire (ie, the faction) both units chosen need to have the FtGG ability to be chosen to be Guided or Observer. So units such as Kroot and Vespid cannot be used as Observers and also can’t be Guided. Drone Controller - A Drone Controller acts as a hub for communications and interface between an operator and the AI battle programs of a number of Tau Drones. The Drone Controller device gives the user the ability to relay any additional targetting data they receive to their Drones, thus directing those automatons' fire more accurately at the target. Nado, Shas'vre - She died defending the Sept World Vesh'yo, from an invasion by Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Fleets. [4]The Broadside battlesuit is technically a variant of the Crisis suit, having been developed by Earth Caste engineers after a veteran pilot asked them “what if more gun?” In all seriousness, the Broadside was created early along in the Tau’s expansion when it became clear that while the Crisis suit had an excellent blend of mobility, firepower, and resilience, there were situations where the Tau would need to “anchor” a section of a line with overwhelming superiority of fire- and that was where the Broadside came in. Over the years, the chassis has been rebuilt time and time again, growing further away from its roots each time as additional weaponry, servomotors, armor, and sensory systems were built on along with an improved power plant, cooling baffles, etc, etc. It is now almost unrecognizable as having been descended from the original XV8s and has likewise evolved a unique role on the battlefield that extends well beyond simply being a static bunker unit. For that reason alone energy terrain is, usually, my number 1 priority for at least one of my expansion, often both, as you'll have to rely on your buildings exclusively for it. EDIT: The Eldar have seen a significant rebalance in the next patch and this section is no longer accurate. I don't have enough matched played on the new patch to give an accurate analysis but it's definitely doable now. Who knows what the next T’au codex will do for the Ghostkeel. I hope that GW does something interesting with it. It’s such a fantastic sculpt, and it would be great to see more variety on the tabletop.

These make cities, repair any unit you own, clear cover and build gunrigs. Useful to have 1-2 with your army. You don't need either? Ok then, maybe you'd rather use your nova engines for 5 mobility, you get the idea. We actually have a lot of options, tau can make use of any and all resources quite effectively even if you might have a set unit composition in mind depending on the matchup (we'll look at units and matchups later). Presumably Mont’ka will appear in the Codex, but for now Tau only have access to Kauyon, which is sort of ironic because you’d think the Mont’ka hotheads would be first out of the gate, with the patient hunters holding off until the codex.

Yes, the change to the Fly keyword is a problem, and yes, Shield Drones have become 50 percent more expensive, but Riptides still look really strong in 9th, and Drones will certainly have their place. As hot takes for T’au Empire go, this one is pretty mild. Allows units within 6″ of a charged unit to fire overwatch as if they were the target of the charge, at the cost of not being able to fire overwatch again that turn. However, I’m a little skeptical that we’re going to see much of the Ghostkeel unless the 9th edition T’au codex updates its stat-line and abilities. This is certainly possible, and towards the end of this article I’m going to make a couple of suggestions that would bring the Ghostkeel into line with similarly-priced units in other codex books. This little unit really should not be underestimated, at 30 cost they are responsible for the majority of complaints against tau by overfilling the enemy board with drones. Also, useful to grant other vehicles their adjacency bonus. Additionally it also gets every 5 turns a special drone that works like a miniature squad of pathfinders with skyfire (so less powerful vs ground targets and more vs air/skimmers) which is decent.

Other than that it gets a sniping skill which benefits from its own stationary boost (and has rapid fire at range 2 when maxed out, range 3 if you somehow decide to boost range with a pathfinder) and does a surprising amount of damage, though on a longish cooldown so i don't suggest taking it before the other skills unless you're against an enemy immune to morale like tyranids. Once maxed out it's not a terrible idea to buy some cheap items to boost it though...Now, the first 2 points are obviously not tau exclusives (and mechanically modules are pretty much identical to chaos marks) but let's take a closer look at the most important one: resource trading. Until recently, the deployment of the XV95 Ghostkeel Battlesuit was restricted to covert missions. In truth, development of these potent battlesuits was completed around the beginning of the Third Sphere Expansion, but it was decreed by the Ethereals that these new weapons should remain hidden until their unveiling held the greatest inspirational value.
