About this deal

I’m not a fan of love triangles in stories because I think it’s a clichéd and heavily overused plot-device, but luckily it didn’t feature heavily in the story and so it didn’t bother me too much.

Our books regularly hit the bestseller lists, and we have powered countless authors to household-name status. Having spent some time in Azerbaijan, I am aware of some of the elements of being a Muslim and the role of women in Muslim culture.Deborah] Rodriguez captures place and people wholeheartedly, unveiling the faces of Afghanistan s women through a wealth of memorable characters who light up the page. Oh, lord … being a vegetarian (or worse, a vegan) in Japan is nearly as bad as relying on oxygen if you live under the sea. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of this novel is how it both transformed and expanded the narrow-minded ideas I held of Afghanistan; ideas that were built partially by reading news reports of oppression and violence and partially by pure ignorance. We spent ages discussing our favourite characters – Sunny, Rashif and Jack all got a mention, with Yazmina and Halajan each being chosen by a couple of members of our group – as well as who we thought were the bravest characters and considered what we thought the author’s motivation for writing the book were.

I actually can't believe I purchased this book, after seeing it be compared to books by Khaled Hosseini. She also owned the Oasis Salon and the Cabul Coffee House, and is the founder of the nonprofit organization Oasis Rescue, which aims to teach women in post-conflict and disaster-stricken areas the art of hairdressing. If you fail to comply with this obligation, we may have a right of action against you for compensation.About the author: Rodriguez taught at and later directed the first modern beauty academy and training salon in Afghanistan. The novel is set in Kabul, Afghanistan, against the backdrop of political turmoil, and the recapture of power by the Taliban. But there are also other characters I honestly didn’t care for too much and felt that this book perhaps didn’t address in depth enough or explain enough why something was happening. I could have literally cried so many times at the way people trying to leave are treat as well as the welcome they get in other countries. But personally I was so shocked by the treatment of the young girls and women, none of which I knew before I read the book, that parts of it literally gave me sleepless nights.

The authors writing style was irritating, as she's an American I can almost forgive her for the inaccurate use of 'bloody hell' by the British character, but found the use of the term 'thick British accent' annoying. I really enjoyed Yazmina’s story and the way in which the women rallied to help her in her predicament in many different ways.We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service for goods which weight less then 2kg, all other goods will be delivered by a Courier. He thinks that Yazmin must be a prostitute, as there is no other reason for her to be alone with no husband.

She spent five years teaching and later directing the Kabul Beauty School, the first modern beauty academy and training salon in Afghanistan. Into the café come Isabel, a British journalist on the trail of a risky story; Jack, who left his family back home in Michigan to earn “danger pay” as a consultant; and Candace, a wealthy and well-connected American whose desire to help threatens to cloud her judgment. I’d read Deborah’s first book, a debut memoir titled: “The Kabul Beauty School” so of course I’ve been anxious to read this one, her first debut work of fiction “A Cup of Friendship”. Yet there were a few things that bothered me, one of which was the love triangle between Sunny and the two main men in her life.
