Marianne goes on to be a role model/mother figure for Eve always offering good advice and being there for her when she needs it. I won't say I loved the topic, or the situations some of the characters found themselves in, but I loved how it was written and found myself unable to put it down.

I loved the big epic reads of Never Look Back and Trust Me and would love to read something like that again in the future from Lesley.

Setting up a new life for herself and her children isn't easy for Eve but with sheer grit and determination she takes them out of poverty and into a more settled existence except that Eve is burdened by a dreadful secret which overshadows her future happiness. It is not an easy path, and being honest to herself forms a huge part of of her journey, but the end shows , in how she has raised her children, that she has made a family of survivors rather than victims. I really enjoyed the fact that she went from downtrodden to ambitious and I admired her for what she achieved. She couldn’t have been better named as she represents a universality of experience that women have had since the first woman herself.
