Hopefully it won’t be too long before someone shares some Kontrol Editor maps for use with different apps. You can adjust the velocity curve of the keyboard, and customise the MIDI messages that are assigned to the pads and knobs to meet your needs. With the nanoKEY Studio that supports wireless connection via Bluetooth MIDI, your iPhone can instantly transform into a music production tool. It’s a real shame that you can’t toggle between DAW and stand-alone mode on the fly and get the best of both worlds.

When I’m sitting somewhere with the iPad standing and the nanoKeys in front of it sometimes people ask what is this funny music laptop and indeed it is. While I’ll still keep my original nanos for their size, I have a feeling that the nanoKey Studio is going to become my new workhorse when it comes to mobile production.

The sounds and functionality of “iPad / iPhone apps” can be expanded by connecting them to a nano Studio series unit.

My other Korg apps, iMS20 and iElectribe, both have a ‘Native Nano’ mode, but they’ve not been updated for use with the Studio editions. Furthermore, the nanoKEYS also includes a range of professional grade software for a range of operating systems allowing you to start creating straight out the box.
