Henry Selick made a big name for himself when he released Nightmare Before Christmaswith Tim Burton, cementing his name into the dark stop-motion animated realm of children's stories. experience and one that will mesmerize audiences with beautiful animation, creative storytelling, and a haunting score. The work done here on this 4K UHD disc shows what a difference the platform can make even to the newest of Blu-ray editions – when time and consideration are taken into effect (as is the case here with Shout Factory’s work). The color palette this time around is more nuanced and dynamic, revealing even more colors in that wide gamut.

An evil monster who manipulates and controls events to lure unsuspecting children in and then steal away their life as she sucks them dry. Beginning with how the project came to be by reading Gaiman’s novel to how the film came to be stop-motion (including how A Nightmare Before Christmas helped) the track really gives details about the production from all sides. Now more than ever, fans will be able to experience these beloved, epic films in the highest possible fidelity, as LAIKA and Shout! Coraline and ParaNorman were painstakingly remastered by the team at LAIKA, led by LAIKA CEO (and Kubo and the Two Strings Director) Travis Knight, and Visual Effects Supervisor Steve Emerson, who pored over each film shot-by-shot, paying close attention to every last detail and color to present these groundbreaking films in the most dynamic format.I can’t imagine this movie would be nearly as memorable or as well regarded when this was supposed to be a live-action movie. Their past collaboration on this very movie was wonderful, but somehow they managed to upgrade the video even more with HDR in 4K.
