About this deal

We have had a few reports on Windows 10 where the driver will automatically install and the board will show up under a new COM port as USB-Serial CH340, but with a different device name. However, the board cannot be accessed on the Arduino IDE. Others have had issues where the installation process hangs. The Arduinos have their on-board USB-TTL UART converters so they don’t usually run into the process of hooking this external module. Provide sufficient heat dissipation and temperature control to avoid use under extreme temperature conditions. There is also an Update Now button if you wish to get only the CH340 driver updated. However, it is recommended to update all old drivers to ensure top-notch computer performance. Later that 5 V supply was used in almost any computer as computers are made using logic chips which need 5 V, at least the TTL ones. Even as TTL was replaced by CMOS logic large parts of computer electronics still used 5 V even though CMOS could also run on lower voltages.

The parallel IO ports can still be used to display your data in a more convenient way such as 7-segments display as we’ve discussed earlier in this course. Or even the alphanumeric LCDs as we’ll see in the upcoming tutorials. However, in the Embedded-C programming, you just can’t do that. Despite having your variables stored in the RAM, you still have no way to display them other than using the parallel/serial ports. Using the parallel IO ports is kind of inefficient way to do so as you’ll be unnecessarily using a whole bunch of IOs & still getting binary output which may not make that much of sense in many situations.

Wiring up this schematic on a breadboard should be an easy task. Just upload your firmware hex file to the microcontroller chip. And Open any serial terminal on your PC (the simplest way is to use the Arduino’s serial monitor). Make sure to set the baud rate to 9600 bps. You can also use my old custom-made serial monitor. And here is a video for the final output of this LAB. The PL-2303 chip provides a convenient solution for connecting a UART-like full-duplex asynchronous serial device to any Universal Serial Bus (USB) capable host. The PL-2303 highly compatible drivers could successfully simulate generic COM ports on most operating systems.

This product provides a VCP example, so we will only discuss the installation of the VCP driver below. Electromagnetic Interference: A strong electromagnetic interference environment may affect the normal operation of the chip, causing performance problems or even damage. FTDI drivers are available for Windows CE 4.2-5.2, 6.0/7.0 and 2013. Support for older versions of Windows Desktop

Open the plastic case (twist the USB connector and then evenly pull apart the plastic case) and change the red wire termination from the pad marked 5V or 3V3. Supports the following Windows OS Byte receive buffer and 128 Byte transmit buffer utilizing buffer smoothing technology to allow for high data throughput. Search automatically for updated driver software on Windows 10. On Windows 11, Search automatically for drivers. Integrated 1024 bit internal EEPROM for I/O configuration and storing USB VID, PID, serial number and product description strings. If you installed the drivers for the CH340 on your computer but have issues connecting via serial terminal or uploading code using the Arduino IDE, there may be an issue with your user settings preventing you from using the CH340. You may receive an avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device error similar to the output shown below. language:bash
