On the shoe's heel, the addition of the fabric strap is a nice feature which can be seen of a number of Puma shoes over the last few years. The PROADAPT ALPHACAT is the “King of Comfort” and it boasts an impressive array of innovative materials including PUMA GOLF’s proprietary ADAPT Foam, which is made from a combination of EVA Cushioning and an impact resistant polymer. The combination of the materials creates a platform that provides impact resistance, energy return, and ground feel. While the PROADAPT Multi Material Outsole, which features a high-durometer, abrasion resistant TPU perimeter that provides great stability and traction on soft surfaces while the central Crystal Rubber unit, provides exceptional ground gripping traction and a soft under foot feel on hard surfaces, giving you the confidence to hit any shot no matter the lie. The upper is an EXO Shell comprised of engendered mesh with a TPU Film that provides both structure and support as well as waterproof performance. This shoe comes complete with a 1-year guarantee.

Why did I love the Adapt Foam cushion on the PROADAPT Alphacat? Ground feel. The cushion is low-profile enough to provide awesome ground feel and awareness, but also plenty soft and responsive for underfoot comfort and energy return.SoleShield – Micro-thin TPU film that is vacuum formed around the midsole for added durability and makes cleaning off dirt and debris a breeze. This is just yet another good looking shoe from Puma - it provides modern styling without being over the top or in your face. The white and grey colourway was subtle, easily paired with trousers or shorts of most colours, and should have appeal to a wide range of golfers. Thanks to the new Multi-Material PROADAPT outsole the traction and grip on the Puma PROADAPT Alphacat are extremely versatile. The multi-direction pattern coupled with the multi-material construction provided ultimate grip in dry AND wet conditions. The patterned effect on the EXO Shell mesh upper was reminiscent of the Under Armour Spieth shoes in previous years, and the addition of the pattern was a good decision as I think the shoes might have looked and felt a little cheap if they were just all white. Both are good options, however, recently I’ve been favoring the low-profile ride of the Alphacat. This is definitely a personal preference thing. If you’re in need of the MOST cushion, you should look elsewhere. But like a guard shoe on the basketball court, the Alphacat is all about feeling connected to the ground. Traction

Puma have been one of the major players in keeping this trend going in recent years, as they have a wide range of models available which blur the lines between casual, fashion-conscious trainers and functional golf shoes. I put mine on twenty minutes before the round during my testing and even kept them on whilst we waited out a weather delay in the clubhouse, and the Alphacat were just as comfortable on the course as they were while I ate my club sandwich and chips! To put the new Alphacat shoe to the test and see whether they really are the 'King of Comfort', I headed down to Denton GC in Manchester for a full day's testing. To be honest, once I was out on the course I couldn't really feel anything different with this traction compared to a usual pair of spikeless shoes, but I completed my round of golf without any slips or feelings of instability despite playing from a variety of different lies.
