About this deal

The (non-retail) DTR-T2100 is practically identical to the (retail) DTR-T2110 but comes in a plan brown box and the label on the underside identyfing as the DTR-T2100 'model'. There is no other difference. If I recall correctly even the on-screen system information menu does not differentiate the two.

YouView Support BT software update 32.45.0 / 3.6.190 - YouView Support

For recording radio programes all youview boxes are unreliable. This is due to the youview boxes having no manual option for setting up timers. Even when I was trying to use my DTR-T2100 as my prime device I had to keep my HDR-FOX T2 fully running in parallel for radio programmes. There are no fans, so it’s virtually silent except for the exceptionally quiet whirring of the laptop-style hard drive. Unless you’re right next to the box, this is inaudible, so it’s ideal for bedrooms as well as the living room or kitchen. Note that the Ultra HD version does have a fan, which can be a little irritating in a quiet room. APV used to work albeit very sluggishly compared to Netflix, having seen the Software update link I note that the new version was rolled out from 10 Oct, shortly before my problem started. Could the new software release be the cause of my problem?

If I take their box to my house still set to the East Midlands it fails to get the channels. If I set the box with a West Midlands B1 postcode the box gets Talking Pictures, but of course the regional programming is incorrect.

Manhattan T3-R vs Humax DTR-T2100. Which is the Best

If a new machine or plugging into a PC lets you play the recordings then that is a bonus. If not then you are not really in any different a position to currently. I'd also bought a DTR-T2100 a fornight before and initailly had them both scheduled to record the same porgrammes for a few weeks. Unlike the DTR-T2100 the TalkTalk box did not miss one recording.

West Mids = Sutton Coldfield COM7 = freq.ch 33 @ -4dB... but received via an aerial pointing the wrong way. SC is often very good if not better than Waltham in parts of the E.Mids for the main channels at least... so that may explain why it works when set like that even though the aerial is pointing the wrong way? You may already have received this or your box is due soon to obtain it. Youview roll the updates out in batches, not everyone gets them at same time. But if you are referring to the new features with the BT Pro box, this is not available on your box (as far as I know currently/not sure about future updates being rolled out).

BT YouView+ box review - Tech Advisor

I have a slightly newer Sony Brava TV and can't recall a single issue with handshaking (unlike my HDR-2000T). HDMI handshaking for me is as sold as with my HDR-FOX T2s (1.03.12 and 1.02.20). The new box is now complete with BT branding front and centre, which BT is probably rather pleased about and you most probably don't give a hoot about. The design matches that of the latest generation Home Hub 5. All youview boxes provide 5 different resets. The easiest to access is via their menus, but that will also delete all your recordings and you would also need to setup everything again. The older Humax box had an LCD display on the front which is absent from the latestDTR-T2100. In fact, there's no display at all. That helps keep the size down and when this information is only a button press away, that probably won't be too much of a problem to you. Hmm, my thinking was that if it behaves exactly the same with the HDD out as in, then the HDD is not making itself known, because it has some fault, and so the box is forever looping i.e. trying but failing to make any communication with the HDD.look carefully at the top of the can. It should be slightly concave, if it looks convex then chances are the capacitor is on it's way out even though it may otherwise look OK. Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears. Apologies to resurrect this thread. I have just installed a new one of these which I bought in 2015. I bought it and then got a sky deal so it just stayed in its box. Multi room subscription finishes today so thought it best to install it in the bedroom for the wife. I tried your first suggestion of trying the PVR with no HDD and it behaves EXACTLY the same as it did with the HDD in! The same looping logos forever, the recovery menu comes up but as before none of the option will do anything. So I think from this we can conclude the HDD is almost certainly dead as the box works just as well (not at all) with it as without.

BT YouView+ Humax DTR-T2100 review - Pocket-lint

The new youview software that TalkTalk are rolling out over the next couple of months should improve at least some aspects of the slowness. Select the Recovery option required using the Up and Down arrow buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box and use the Right arrow button to confirm the option.Your Box should still work ok even without having a subscription to BT. When you refer to software updates, which version are you on at the moment? Your BT T2100 should currently be on around 32.141.0 / 3.8.50 as per this link: So, is there an explanation? I'm guessing the tuner in the DTR-T2100 is either more or less sensitive than the DTR-T1000 and is being affected by not differentiating between East and West Midlands frequencies. Is a variable attenuator or a booster likely to make any difference? Is the aerial somehow at fault in both houses? First impressions. I can believe why Humax didn't want to put their name on the outside. It's rubbish. It's slow, the remote needs a hard press to make it work and the TV tuner on the TV is much superior. Initially I tried it without it being connected to the internet and it seemed fine. As soon as I got it connected using a sky WiFi adapter it updated the software and now I have a much darker screen and is clearer and brighter using the TV tuner. Tested on two TVs and it's the same.
