About this deal

After a brief and not unusual trip to the emergency room, she tells her husband about the negative test. Rosie, as warm and as homely as she may have been, is truly put through her paces by life in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed every fast turning page ( Vanessa Ronan, author of The Last Days of Summer ) --This text refers to the paperback edition. When she can no longer be a wife and Phil wants to move to a bigger city with the children, she has to reevaluate her life and figure out where she lost her non familial dreams along the way.

With so much heartache, sadness, loss of hope and despair, I found myself waiting for that one 'good thing' to take place that would perhaps bring Rosie back to life. I laughed with Rosie, cried with Rosie and found myself angry, no, make that furious, on her behalf. Rosie's picture perfect life comes shattering around her when unexpectedly one day her husband Phil tells her he is leaving her for another woman. A somewhat preposterous fast-forward finds the characters 12 years older but no wiser: Lily and Ed have a son with Asperger’s; Carla is a knockout law student back from Italy; and Joe is still causing trouble from the sidelines. She goes to sit on her favourite bench on the north Devon cliffs, and thanks her lucky stars for her wonderful husband, her mischievous young daughters, and her neat little house by the sea. My Husband's Wifeis her 11th full length novel as well as the four short stories she has written and comes hot on the heels of her previous release from the beginning of the year - Another Love which showcased what an incredible talent Amanda is and why her books deserve all the acclaim they regularly receive. To be honest, there were times I felt like shouting at Rosie for the way her children ran rings around her. So what of this new release in the No Greater Courage series (all stand alone reads but obviously connected through the courage and tenacity displayed by the main characters) - My Husband's Wife?

Brooks is a pro at building suspense even if it plays out in some rather spectacularly yucky episodes, one involving a short spear that takes its name from “the sucking sound of pulling it out of the dead man’s heart and lungs. Brooks places the epicenter of the Bigfoot war in a high-tech hideaway populated by the kind of people you might find in a Jurassic Park franchise: the schmo who doesn’t know how to do much of anything but tries anyway, the well-intentioned bleeding heart, the know-it-all intellectual who turns out to know the wrong things, the immigrant with a tough backstory and an instinct for survival. It will likely cause you to stay up too late reading it, but it’s definitely worth the lost sleep—this is a Book Worth Reading.

Prowse wrote these passages beautifully; the emotions are raw, conflicted, and always feel very true-to-life. A couple working as chauffeurs have been accused of stealing millions from the founder of Tin House Books.I'm neither a wife nor a mother so it's testament to the superb writing of the author that I could immerse myself so easily in the story of Rosie and feel her pain and anguish as she asks what is there really left in my life now that everything I have held so dear and nurtured has been taken away from me? Just when you think nothing else can happen to make things worse for her, something happens to make her feel even more alone. I found the beginning a little slow and opening so many questions, I was sure to be disappointed when surely many of them wouldn't be answered. After a troubled start in life Rosie now is very thankful for the perfect life she has with her two beautiful and comical little girls and her loving and supportive husband and they live in their lovely home by the sea, who could ask for more? She did what any one of us would do, she went to pieces and then all those little pieces collapsed around her when one by one she starts to lose everything and everyone else that she hold dear as well.

Besides Lily and Ed and their less-than-blissful marriage, Corry introduces their neighbors across the hall, Italian immigrant Francesca Cavoletti and her 9-year-old daughter, Carla, who catches Ed’s eye as the perfect artistic subject. My first was The Christmas Café, and my second was the all-consuming Another Love, both of which I adored. Maybe, but the sasquatches whom the volcano displaced contributed to the statistics, too, if only out of self-defense. And correct me if I'm wrong but Rosie is related to Jo, Martin's wife after Poppy from Will you Remember Me? I would say she is comparable to Jodi Picoult without the courtroom drama element present in her earlier books. And that was my real issue with the book, the title was misleading as I was expecting her to eventually pick herself up, dust herself down and carry on but she didn't and more importantly didn't want to.
