The Lord of the Rings Tarot, in my opinion is one of the ideal decks for the Middle-Earth enthusiasts, for that specific group this deck might be considered the ideal starter deck. Featuring original artwork inspired by classic tarot iconography, this 78-card deck depicts fan-favourite characters, creatures, and scenes from The Lord of the Rings novels, including everyone from heroes like Sam Gamgee and Legolas to sinister antagonists Gollum and Sauron. The Lord of the Rings Tarot unites two great traditions: the spiritual, mystical tradition of the tarot, and the world of folklore and fairy tales that is most delightfully depicted in the works of J.As far as I know there are two sets available and several translations (including Dutch), just the deck with a very simple booklet and a set including a very complete book and a spread-poster. Donaldson’s discussion of the cards wends through Tolkien’s works, traditional tarot interpretations, astrological associations, and original spreads and meditations.

The book is illustrated in black and white but includes pictures of every card, including pips and an explanation of at least one page, even several pages per card for the major cards, again linking to the Tolkien mythos.
