Kennedy Ryan navigates through a sensitive topic with eloquence and compassion ensuring that I understood the standpoint of the heroine and felt compassion for her situation.

I understood where she was coming from with her past with her mom as well as her past with Caleb, but I didn't like how she treated the H or behaved at times.

The harrowing brutality of Iris's story left me torn between not being able to put it down and wanting to take a break. Of course we then have August and oh my this man is one of the most caring and sweet book boys I've ever come across. As you progress in the story you will see that kennedy doesn't hide the ugliness of an abusive relationship at all.

With the visual clarity of the author’s vivid, heartfelt, and passionate words, this story felt real, raw and painfully open and honest. That doesn’t happen to me very often, but the story was so profound, it took me a while to find my words. Take a bow and KNOW that even if you can’t save them all, you are helping salvage relationships between survivors and their families.His strength and depth of character make this great man a man who for whom you'll forever be in love. Iris is a strong independent young woman with a mother who used men her whole life to get what she wanted and Iris is determined to break the mould, determined to go through life being dependant on nobody. While August has embarked on his all-star life, studded with wealth and fame, Iris's perfect public relationship has become a nightmare behind closed doors. We have majority of the book with them not together, them getting together but the h is pushing away, some suspense, and then it's over.

As you progress in the story you will see that kennedy doesn’t hide the ugliness of an abusive relationship at all.I finished this story with tears in my eyes and even after a few days I find myself thinking about this story. A bad decision, years of regrets, a love that could never be, but for the dream that kept them alive! I gulp her until I can’t remember the taste of another woman—there’s only ever been her scent and her hair and her shape. I'm not sure what was the author's intent, but I had difficulties to remain interested about what was going on in his life.
