About this deal

According to regulations, loft insulation depth must be at least 270mm, which is usually higher than most loft floor joists. We will exchange or refund within the first 30 days if a manufacturers fault is found with this product. Therefore, boarding directly onto joists would mean in many cases having reduced insulation in between the joists (75mm – 100mm) or squashing insulation down where there is boarding from 270mm to 100mm. Then added the insulation put some floorboards down and then moved everything across to the other side and managed to do the other side.

Pack of loft legs raise loft floor by 175mm on top of ceiling joists, ensuring insulation is not compressed, thereby maintaining U values, to help save energy and money. Loft Legs are screwed directly into the joists or trusses in a grid to raise the boards, the spacing of the Legs should correlate with the joints in the boards.Loft Boarding Derby; Loft Boarding in the East Midlands ; Professional Loft Boarding; Loft Ladder; Loft Hatch; Loft Light; Raised Loft Floor; Loft Insulation Spacers; Use Your Loft For Storage. The installation has only been partially started and the product therefore has yet to be put to the test.

The Loftleg is a unique, design protected solution to avoid insulation compression when using your loft for storage. Once condensation has built up, it can soak into the ceiling below your loft, as well as into your wooden joists, causing them to lose structural integrity. After an initial coupla bumps in the road i was contacted by dave the company owner who sorted it for me personally. I needed them to protect insulation when boarding a loft and they do, I fitted loft boards on top and 2 months on all good. The subframe is put in place across your joists and can be designed to match different spacings between joists. There are a number of specific products on the market that aim to solve the above problems by safely raising loft boards above mineral wool/quilt based insulation cost effectively and without creating thermal bridging or adding excessive weight.

Amazing product if looking for extra space in your loft with the added benefit of it not affecting your new build warranty. It also makes your insulation less effective when it has been condensed down under boards, so you’re in a lose-lose situation. In the past I've purchased loft zone flooring and the metal loft shelf, however for this particular requirement I wanted something more cost effective than the metal shelves as it's overkill for this part of our loft. The result is a nice strong platform for storage with a good space for top up insulation underneath.

Loft insulation spacers are designed to avoid insulation compression when using your loft for storage. However, I think the way it all fits together with the very strong triangular plastic legs and the metal cross pieces is very strong and also probably a lot easier to fit once you get going as the cross pieces allow flexibility for where you place the feet on the joists. So when you try and board directly onto these joists, you’re going to end up squashing the insulation down, which in turn means your insulation won’t pass a building control inspection.By using a loft leg this will raise the flooring above any insulating materials you have in between the joists, this space is essential to ensuring the insulating properties have room to breathe so they will be working to their best ability. I supply all my own materials and fully explain beforehand how your loft will be converted into a safe and easy to access storage area.
