About this deal

I even found it a bit glitchy using the stylus as occasionally game features wouldn’t follow through without a few taps. This package consists of 3 x LeapPad Learning Games and a choice of Green or Purple Gel protection skins for the LeapPad 3 console.

I found it easy to hear the accompanying audio which is attached to each section of an app or game and there’s a handy volume control button on the bottom right hand side of the LeapPad 3. I love that you can download games wirelessly rather than having to connect it to a computer all the time. Yes, it’s easy to set up although it did ask for a few details about my child, such as name, date of birth, and so on, which some parents might not wish to share. LeapPad3 is a fast, high-performance, fun-packed Wi-Fi tablet that allows kids to learn and play in a way that’s just right for them. When Maggie came home from her first day of school, the LeapPad 3 was waiting for her and she was ecstatic.

One of the things I love about LeapFrog is their neutral Green branding, so I was a little shocked to receive a Pink one. In fact the games he has set on there are meant for much older kids so my son can't even do anything on it. LeapFrog says it is “kid-tough and thoroughly drop-tested” and I can vouch for this as my son dropped it on a hard floor a couple of times!

Older LeapPads needed four AA batteries but the LeapPad 3 comes with a built-in lithium ion battery, along with a USB cable and charger which I found convenient. Available in either pink or green, this handheld device similar to a tablet computer, is the latest model in the LeapPad series. I have a leapPad academy and my son's father naught it for him for Christmas and set it up before he gave it to him.Designed to be the perfect first tablet experience, I was concerned how L would get on with the LeapPad3. Another WiFi feature is Pet Chat – This allows LeapPad3 users to send messages to each other (like texting) via wifi. Education is very important and LeapFrog’s LeapPad 3 is a great tool to help entertain and educate young children. The LeapPad itself is quite solid and the build quality is excellent and has survived some small drops and knocks. I love there that there are such a huge range of games, music and audio books available for children up to 12 years old. You are currently visiting the United States LeapFrog site, which doesn't appear to match your current location. On the Manage Content screen, expand the "Installed" menu, scroll down and locate some of the larger sized apps (App size is displayed beneath the app name). This game helps learning letters by tracing letters, pronouncing letters, spelling words, word recognition and reading.

The new tablet also comes with ten built-in apps – plus, I was surprised to see it let us choose an app for free when we registered the device too. I would like to try out the language apps particularly as my son will start learning French at school shortly and I think that could help me to assist his learning. The LeapPad3 not only makes learning fun, it also enables children to chat and play with friends who are using nearby devices. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

However, once turned on and set up – which takes about 20 minutes – using the LeapPad3 is fairly self-explanatory. Aside from my little niggles the LeapPad 3 from LeapFrog is a very worthwhile educational tool where children not only play and have fun but learn while they are doing it, or as my young niece says it’s fantastic!
