About this deal

iRig UA sounds phenomenal and the reason for this is due to its built-in digital signal processor (DSP). Digital modelling is the process of recreating an analogue device's behaviour entirely within software using either a general purpose CPU or dedicated digital signal processing (DSP) hardware. I think with enough tweaking and possibly some in-app purchasing I might put this in a recording or live situation, but I think that is more about my stubborn analog loving ways than anything to do with this device. iRig HD 2 + TONEX for iPhone and iPad is your on-the-go dream rig featuring IK’s breakthrough AI Machine Modeling technology.

Didn't come with the cords I needed, also the software is a hassle to dl, and it's the bare minimum of everything, not at all what I was expecting. Also, if you look at the flat area facing the box you’ll see the thumb-wheel for the headphone volume along with the 3. When we say, “a higher level,” we mean you simply won’t find better with this many features and this much value. That’s why I was intrigued by IK Multimedia’s newest iRig UA guitar interface for Android, as well as AmpliTube UA (for future reference I’ll be referring to the device as the UA, and the software that goes with it simply as AmpliTube, although please don’t mistake it for the PC version). AmpliTube UA also lets musicians get even more creative by letting them place their stompbox effects either before or after their amplifier. It lets you plug in a guitar and start bashing out riffs without the need for a hulking Marshall stack or expensive dedicated modelling hardware like an Axe-Fx.

Limited or not, class-compliant support means that third parties can finally build audio interfaces for Android that work with a wide range of devices.I sort of wish that the UA could work as an interface for PC via the USB port, but unfortunately it doesn’t. You get over 20 included in the mobile application, with licensed gear from the likes of Fender and Orange.

The folks over at ExtremeSD, which makes its own custom audio driver for Android, have a good list of what does and doesn't work with Android's class-compliant driver.A new era of mobile music making on Android has arrived: iRig UA is the first digital effects processor and audio interface that lets you play your guitar, bass, or other instrument on your Android device anytime and everywhere. If they aren’t available then your device doesn’t support it, in which case you’re better off getting the iRig UA instead. The 32-bit DSP inside iRig UA works with other quality components to give you 24-bit A/D conversion, a 44.

With iRig UA, the most popular mobile digital guitar interface and virtual guitar tone studio have finally landed on Android. It comes with a headphone jack and included auxiliary port for listening to a secondary source during playback, useful if you want to practice or record a cover of your favourite track. The device itself is a small, lightweight, and unassuming bus-powered silver box that hooks up to any device sporting Android 4. The “FX” setting sends your processed signal, or the sound coming out of your software/app to the external device.
