About this deal

I read this book much faster than I anticipated because I was completely taken in by the glitz and glamor of the heiress and the Duke.

Will Sarah’s loyalties—and her dreams—falter when a king is toppled from his throne and a new queen crowned? If you are looking for a fast read - this is not a book for you as there are over 400 pages with countless characters and scenes that bring nothing to the overall story. On her father's deathbed he secretly gives her a larg

Her father, on his deathbed, feared that Angelique would not fare very well at the mercy of brother so he gives her a bag of money for her to hold onto just in case she needs it. Of course, the brother has always resented Angelique because he hated her mother, who actually died at her birth. We’ve all grown up hearing about the notorious Mrs Simpson, twice-divorced, elegant, witty and the woman who inspired a king abdicate his throne out of love for her.

I have read several books about Wallis Simpson and I get that that author wanted to provide a different Wallis, but it was really too one sided to me. Orphaned at a young age, Amelia Cicely Florence, the first lady ruler in the history of the Empire of Creador, was but seventeen years old. During Thelma’s absence, Wallis and David fall in love which eventually leads to David abdication from the throne to marry the woman he loves. Mia a normal office worker went out with her friends at night for some drinks but after she woke up her body felt heavy and she wasn't able to open her eyes. The sudden death of George V seems to make this inevitable; the Prince of Wales is now King Edward VIII.With her upper-class breeding, her impeccable style, and her father’s bequest, Angélique creates Le Boudoir, soon a sensational establishment where powerful men, secret desires, and beautiful, sophisticated women come together. Out of curiosity, I found a conversion calculator that told me that 25,000 pounds in 1827 would be 2,511,448 pounds today (actually 2017) due to inflation.

She used to only seek the thrill of her next kill until she was forced by her father to marry the human duke of his country. She is also the author of His Bright Light , the story of her son Nick Traina's life and death; A Gift of Hope , a memoir of her work with the homeless; and the children's books Pretty Minnie in Paris and Pretty Minnie in Hollywood . A murder occurred at the brothel and even though one of Angelique's admirers (high up in the government) did his best to hide the location and facts surrounding the murder, he advised Angelique to close up for a while and leave the country. Things getting complicated after Zayn collapsed, making Ariana have to make another big decision in her life. Before leaving, Thelma asks Wallis to keep the easily distracted David company so he doesn’t fall into the arms of another woman.Forever seeking love, protection and safety, whether through a reliable, loving husband or through the cushion of wealth, this Wallis is naïve, impressionable, insecure and yet still sensitive to the suffering of others, constantly seeking refuge in furthering her prospects in a brittle and alien society about which she knows very little. It was fascinating to read Holden’s take on how Wallis worked her way up through the tight ranks of pre-war British society to become first acquaintance then mistress to a king. But living on the edge of scandal, can she ever make a life of her own--or regain her rightful place in the world? Maar de auteur zou nog een vierde kunnen schrijven over Meghan Markle, haar verhaal is gelijkaardig aan dat van Wallis Simpson.
