About this deal

Their condition is so perfect that you probably wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from brand new ones. They mention that it's very quick, and noticeably quicker when scrolling through the EPG and when launching players. Other than that, the YouView box has to be connected to the internet and, if you want live channels, an aerial socket. At least the service doesn’t slow down with more people using it, as BT uses multicast to deliver TV.

The bandwidth for 8k will become increasingly “available” as the Fibre revolution takes place and with boxes having a lifespan of at least 6 years i was thinking that it should be future proofed. I have said all this already and also 'No' the NowTV recording functionality is coming to the T2100 and T4000 (probably before the new box is even released). It’s this blurring of traditional and internet content that continues to make YouView a real winner in my eyes. It has a 1TB hard disk, which is enough for around 600 hours of SD content, 250 hours of HD and 60 hours of Ultra HD. Iused to be able to record 6 or 7 channels at once providing they were on the same MUX or IP channels.I suspect that if your already on the VIP deal- let it expire by a day and ring them up to get put back on with a new box. You can pay for a Netflix subscription directly to BT, or you can do it independently if you prefer. The service requires 44Mbps which ensures a high-quality TV viewing experience and concurrent internet use. The BT TV service and Ultra HD YouView set top box package was among the first to offer 4K content beamed straight to your living room. With no compatible studio cameras, the half-time bit is done by the commentator up in the stands, which gives the game away that BT has yet to put resources in to the overall presentation.

It includes electrical noise reduction, heat reduction and over-voltage protection, keeping your device powered and safe. The benefit of the YouView system is that internet channels appear in the YouView guide alongside broadcast channels and you can even record them. With compatible systems now on the market from the likes of Sky and Virgin Media though, does the BT option still hold up though? LG 55UF950 and the Ultra HD channel looks absolutely stunning in its 3840×2160 resolution – remember double the resolution means four times the amount of pixels when moving from Full HD.

The aura app is OK and works for remote recording but it also lets you watch live TV and recordings when on your home network, it also has a basic web interface which I use a lot on my iMac, it's a basic interface but actually works well. Unfortunately, the box is no quicker to power up than the BT TV YouView box, taking a good 20 seconds or so from standby, even when taking the Smart and eco-friendly power up options into account. Also, the IP stream is user-agnostic so your speed won't be affected by the number of other users in the district. The primary purpose of this box is to deliver BT Sport in glorious Ultra HD, 3,840×2,160 at 50fps – that’s double the frame rate of traditional TV.

Like many cheap boxes, they seem to have programmed in a stupid obligatory split second delay/animation lag from the time you press the button on the remote to the input occurring on screen. Undoubtedly though it's the BT Sport Ultra HD channel that we're principally interested in, and without a doubt 4K UHD is the jewel in the BT YouView crown. You can also subscribe to Sky Movies and Sky Sports channels (as well as Now TV boxset content), but only in HD. Another difference is that this box is fan cooled, which makes it a bit noisy when the TV's been switched off but is totally necessary as it runs hot enough to fry an egg on. The skip period on the T3-R is selectable, but doesn't have the flexibility of the Toppy, which could assign various values to the coloured buttons.
