About this deal

It was great being at a First Division club but it was not me in charge and it was not my home town club. I obviously wanted to keep it as a memento of what we had done that season with promotion to the Second Division and reaching the Sixth Round of the Cup. We meet footballing celebrities too, such as Peter Shilton, Graham Taylor, George best, John Sillett and many more whom Dixie met.

Press photos have been available to the public for just a few years, and similar to baseball cards, they have attracted investors and collectors. We assist them in setting their prints free for future generations to access and appreciate them and their historical value. The replay saw the biggest attendance in the competition’s history for a non-league side, in what was another tightly-contested affair.

Thanks, Dixie, for sharing your memories of an illustrious career that is a model for all aspiring youngsters to emulate. He later had successful spells with Lincoln City and Hereford United, helping the latter to reach the dizzy heights of the Second Division. There were also a couple of brief, though praiseworthy, excursions into Europe and McNeil managed to score in the narrow defeats against NK Rijeka and FC Magdeburg. Phil Parkinson’s men go into tomorrow’s game in a strong vein of form, winning eight of the last ten matches.

They’d locked up the outside of the ground because it was full, and it was a tremendous place to play and thankfully we got the right result. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. He first moved to Wrexham in 1977 where he embarked on one of the best goalscoring runs in FA Cup history. In 1985, with his squad decimated by injury, McNeil made a brief appearance as a substitute at Notts County in an FA Cup replay.

You scored the all-important equaliser against Blyth Spartans and also the winner in the replay which was played at Newcastle’s St James’s Park. The following season as Hereford made off with the third division championship he rattled in 35 goals in 41 appearances. At the end of the season, John stepped down and i decided that i did not want to stay, leaving home at 6:30am on Monday morning and coming back late was not right for both my wife and two children. After a spell as assistant manager at Coventry City, he worked in sales for a brewery and reported on Wrexham's games for local radio before becoming manager of Flint Town United and later Caernarfon Town and Cefn Druids. When Dixie McNeil arrived at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham were scarcely better off, lying in 18th place with just one win in seven games. Hereford were a super club, the players gelled brilliantly together which is also a great advantage. The club McNeil landed at was Corby Town and although he continued to find the net his new side were relegated from the Southern League Premier Division after his first season with them.

A last-minute leveller at home to minnows Blyth Spartans meant another trip up north and back to St James’ Park where he scored in a 2-1 win.

Hereford finished bottom of the Second Division the following season despite McNeil scoring nearly a goal every other game.
