Comfrey has been known to be one of the best composting plants, it is full of nutrition and helps plants uptake essential nutrients when added to the soil. It provides a firm foundation for a healthy start in plant life with a gentle sustained feeding to take plants through to potting on. When I got talking to them on their Chelsea stand I discovered that there was something quite different with this compost and when I was told that it was peat free and made from sheep’s wool and bracken, my interest was piqued.

And like the rest of Dalefoot’s range, it has been approved by the Soil Association for organic growing. Includes bracken – bracken is FULL of potash (potassium) which is essential for fruiting and flowering. To say the dahlias’ that year looked as though they were on steroids would be an understatement but perform they did. For years there have been warnings about climate change, on what we need to do to protect and sustain this precious planet.I have planted up one pot but intend to get some identical plants and 2 planters to try a comparison with 'ordinary' compost.
