About this deal

To give you more peace of mind, Corefix has been independently tested to 100kg loading and has safely held 250kg in our own internal tests. The best fixings to use for a dot and dab wall, where a heavy load is going to need to be supported, would be the Corefix fixing. These wall plugs are versatile enough to use for a variety of applications and fixtures, including wall-mounted TVs, cabinets, shelving, sinks, radiators, and more.

I’ve already mounted a heavy mirror on such a wall but the fixings are so long they lean down into the plasterboard from the horizontal. Its unique steel core transfers the load to the blockwork behind the plasterboard, preventing the plasterboard from crushing into the void. And I might want a bit of overhead on my fixing, so it’s getting on for an 80mm long fixing and 85mm deep hole. Based on the UK definition of a hollow wall, then a hollow wall anchor would be a fixing that secures a load to a hollow or cavity wall.I've used similar fixings before (Rigifix) to wall hang tv's on dry lined walls and they also work really well however they were too bulky for use with the blinds but the corefix stuff was spot on. Corefix is ideal for use with a range of solid wall constructions, including blockwork, brick, stone and concrete. To install, drill a 10mm hole with a masonry or SDS bit to the depth of your red or blue Corefix plug, tap this home until the flange touches the plasterboard, tap home the engineered steel core until this is flush with the flange of the plug, offer up the bracket/fixture and screw home until tight.

It is highly unlikely your TV will weigh more than 40kg (even the Samsung 75” TV we weighed was only just over 30 kg. Suitable for wall mounted TVs, Cabinets, Boilers, Radiators, Shelving, Sinks, Toilets, Pictures and Curtain Poles. No matter your level of installation experience, our Corefix wall plugs have a straightforward design for a quick and easy installation using only a drill, hammer and screwdriver. However make sure that you have sufficient space between the plasterboard and the wall behind it to allow the fixing to be inserted fully before opening out. HOWEVER I also bought the normal Corefix fixings (the red ones) and this one as this one states designed for thermolite blocks.

As written it is not appropriate for heavy loads on dot-and-dab walls, and with respect to them taking the effort to post and meaning well with it I suspect they haven't actually implemented the method all that often in practice. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. The recommended safe load of 100kg (4 x fixings) includes a conservative Factor of Safety (see datasheet for further details).

The screws do appear quite long when first seen but as they have to go through the plaster board then the gap and then into the brick it is understandable why they are this length and give the support the do. This wall fixing kit is made in Britain and independently reviewed, ensuring four fixings can safely support up to 100kg in weight. Just to add, if you’re nervous about the Thermalite blocks and want to avoid drilling into them, have a look at Gee Fix fixings.Made in Britain, Corefix wall plugs are independently reviewed to ensure a safe and secure hold no matter the fixture. Further it lets me now contemplate stuff like floating shelves knowing my fixing will be spot on, and not have one sag or hold a shelf not dead flat etc. Featuring a strong steel core, our reinforced wall anchors are designed to transfer the load to the brick or block wall behind the plasterboard, providing a safe and strong hold. There is a vast and bewildering range of wall fixings available with little information to answer the following questions: Will the fixing work with my wall type? Fixings from Metex simplify the decision making process through education by showing the compatible wall materials and safe working load for each fixing, allowing the user to make an informed and confident purchase.
