About this deal

While expensive, if properly cared for this is the only duvet on our list that could literally last a lifetime.

With a tog this low, the duvet won’t trap as much hot air (if you can even make it under the duvet in a heatwave! I was expecting something puffy and fluffy, but it’s both slimmer and heavier than expected, similar to the merino and wool duvets below. Being at the right temperature in bed aids in better quality sleep, so you can perform at your best during the day and feel great too. They mention that it's easy to wash, it helps to feel cooler in the summer and that it is a silk like material. It allows air to flow through the duvet to keep you cool, and those modal fibres are going to help with moisture control (aka suck up your sweat).

Fibre duvets are a popular choice because they’re cheaper, hypoallergenic and people who don’t want to use animal products can dream easily with a synthetic duvet. Other points we liked was that it comes with button holes so you can partner your duvet up with another if you want to bolster the tog rating, and it also has a drawstring bag for dust-free storage. A good solution is to have a cooler summer duvet that helps you keep the cosy feeling of wrapping yourself in a quilt, but without making you feel overheated. Besides cooling your body, the Smart Temperature Duvet Cover is home washable which makes it easy to use, with the technology remaining fully effective even after repeated laundering. This comfortable duvet has a premium cotton-blend cover that’s kind to skin and has a climate control filling, which quickly absorbs excess moisture from your skin keeping you cool and fresh. The best summer duvet for you should be breathable and lightweight, but provide a bit more of a snuggle factor than a simple sheet.

But it’s hard to know which to choose – duck feather, goose down, synthetic fill, microfibre, cotton or wool? This seriously wowed our testers, many of whom were new to wool bedding and declared themselves fully sold after just a couple of weeks curling up with their new duvet. The 100% cotton sateen cover has a soft natural feel but offers less of a cooling benefit than a synthetic fabric would.

It’s a popular choice for duvets because the temperature regulation means it should be good for both summer and winter (although Piglet in Bed also sells a lighter version of this duvet). We found it perfect for the April evenings we used it on as it felt super snuggly and we didn’t overheat once, nor did our fussy and prone-to-overheating co-tester. Your personal taste and some environmental factors, such as the temperature of your bedroom and the season, will determine the appropriate tog value for you. Light yet warm and deliciously plump and cosy, there’s a reason this duvet has aced our tests and won the top spot, despite being expensive. It’s made from a layer of eco-friendly modal fibres, which is super breathable and also wicks away sweat.
