Everywhere I walk, there is a terrifying aromatic aura around me for a period of no less than 6 hours. At any rate, it offers an accord very similar to the fantasy "tonkabacco" note that shows up all over the place.
If you have experience wearing fragrances you will be able to distinguish between them by two crucial factors, 1) their development over time, how the signature of different notes and accords pop out of a seemingly similar soup, at different times during the wearing and 2) The way it makes to feel. Great performance lasting easily 4 hours for me - most scents don't last more than 2-3 hours on my skin. It certainly seems like Calvin Klein's 2011 release CK One Shock, which does include tobacco in its note listing, was at least partly inspired by, or simply nonetheless ended up smelling very similar to, Bogart Pour Homme, as both have a strong cherry tobacco commonality. Very nice fragrance it doesn't draw compliments but I don't seem to get them with any of my colonges so that doesn't seem to matter and some are high end but I like it and so does my wife that's what counts. Seeing it was launched in 1975, I was looking forward to a bombardment of loud oakmoss and nutmeg with a pinch of cloves - and suddenly this leathery chypre/fougere (I cannot decide which?We - the very few remaining real men - have a mission to teach the younger boys about the Fragrance Religion like HUGO BOSS N ONE, BOGART, ARAMIS ARAMIS, QUORUM, AGUA BRAVA, MASCULIN ACIER, BOUCHERON HOMME and the rest of the gang including the LEGENDARY HARLEY DAVIDSON. men had briefcases, mobile phones were huge, fountain pens were still a thing (check the packaging). Although a bit synthetic and sweet, the lavender prevents it turning towards the gourmand side, and creates this rather masculine vibe that works well in outdoor settings with colder weather. Just to give you a hint, Bogart pour Homme uncannily likens Le Mâle Eau de Toilette and A*Men Pure Havane. There may be so many perfume lovers like me who do not understand so many minute details and fine notes.The overall feel of this fragrance is a solid cherry fragrance with "masculine florals"; unfortunately these florals are anything but masculine to me in the heart of the fragrance, where this fragrance shines its brightest.
The middle notes are geranium, lily of the valley, and orange blossom, which add a touch of florality and sweetness. Upon deployment I get fresh cherry pipe tobacco in a leather pouch balanced with a medicinal note akin to surgical spirit.There was hint of animalic smell (which I don't like much but nicely covered in others and bearable). I'm happy to report after getting some air in the bottle, and the wonder of time, this pickled pepper opening has greatly subsided and mellowed. I think its the bergamot mixed with rose and tonka bean, it makes it smell like a red fruit of some sort and people are starting to believe the hype and think of Cherry when they smell this. It's like a fresher take on the classic masculine fragrance known as Quorum, and has 0 sweetness to it whatsoever (leans extremely masculine and somewhat old-school). This is soft and creamy, smooth tonka lavender bomb right on the level of Pure Havane and Pure Malt.
