About this deal

This redesigned edition shows the location of sites from the Stone Age through to the early Middle Ages on a modern map base. This depth of stretcher bar provides a more modern look and is not as easily framed at a later date. The historical map and guide is complemented by a timeline that shows British events in relation to wider world history.

A must for people interested in Roman Britain who wants to go and look at the sites in real and it covers a lot of sites indeed. Discover some of Great Britain's most important ancient monuments and archaeological sites with Ordnance Survey's map of Ancient Britain.Symbols arranged according to the period (Palaeo/Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze, Iron, Roman, and Medieval) and use (civil, defence, domestic, industrial, religious/ritual, and funerary/burial) show locations of the sites. The map has been compiled by the national heritage bodies maintained by Historic England, Historic Environment Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. Find the site of the Din Lligwy Iron Age settlement; see the Anglo-Saxon crosses at Sandbach; visit Grime''s Graves; see the remains of Skara Brae, Neolithic setlement with this historical map and guide of Ancient Britain, highlighting buildings and ancient monuments on a modern map base. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Each archaeological period is identified using different symbols and colours to show sites from the Stone Age through to the early Middle Ages against a modern map base, double-sided to cover the whole country.

An index to all sites is provided, with each monument named, giving the National Grid reference number.

Very good and informative map with a clear indexing of roman activities, roads, forts, villas hoard finds etc etc. Any way to sum up its great but I do wonder why Ordnance Survey don't publish as a plain modern map without the historic layers, it would in my opinion be very useful addition to their fantastic range of maps. Our maps are designed to last for years but if you are having a clear out, do your part for the planet and pop them in your local recycling bin. No cardholder information is ever passed un-encrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Sage Pay are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. Please also note that we are legally required to declare the correct value of your purchase which is used to calculate the tax and any tariff duty.
