About this deal

Like many men of his generation his life was cut short for the greater good whilst in the service of his country, so that others might prevail.

Patton, one of three forces attacking French Morocco and Algeria in three areas of a thousand-mile-long coastline, stretching all the way from Safi on the Atlantic to Algiers. The sacrifices made by this “greatest generation” are really brought out in Kershaw’s narrative and Americans should be grateful that we had men such as these who stepped forward in this hour of greatest need in the 20th century. There are some intensely powerful and graphic scenes in this book, and how the characters deal with them is handled very well. Paul Connolly was abandoned as a baby and wound up in an awful children's home, where all the children suffered some level of abuse. But he doesn't stop there; relying almost entirely on primary and unpublished sources, the author goes on to expose a web of conspiracy and corruption that extended far wider than even the FBI ever suspected. There were parts that I felt uneccessary repetition and the ending was very drawn out - the grittiness gone and the fact he is now doing well for himself is almost a little irksome. He also tells of being shocked by being one of the 2 from his 8 dormitory companions who survived to create a happy life - the kids he had known had become involved in drugs and/or committed suicide, a tally that finally brought the police to his door and the perpetrators of the horrors of his childhood to justice.

From the Napoleonic Wars to Korea, Bryan Perrett has found a further 13 dramatic military actions where a few fought against many, often with unbelievable success. Both Stephen’s grandfathers served in and survived the First World War, one with the Royal Irish Rifles, the other in the Mercantile Marine, whilst his father was a member of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps during the Second World War. It's incredibly brave to lay your soul bare like Paul has and for that he should be very proud of himself turning out the way he has.Although he originally intended to become a professional boxing champion, this was no longer an option after an accident. World War II magazine • “Alex Kershaw is the master of putting the reader in the heat of the action. unfortunately most other children that were also in this disgusting establishment didn't survive to adulthood, or at least middle age. I am pleased to see that he has changed his viewpoint now that he has children, but this book did nothing but make me dislike Paul.

You cannot help but understand how he becomes able to protect himself in life albeit with some aggression. Grimm of course is used as a political scapegoat, even though he did nothing wrong, due to the uproar over the situation that occurred. The character work in this book is exceptional, Grimm has so much depth to him, as the scapegoat for a crisis that was not his fault, but at the same time, still feeling the guilt over killing all those children – even though it was at the risk of his life, and the life of hundreds of others. I don't find the quality of the writing a bad thing though, in fact I found it helped set the atmosphere and also made it all feel much more honest. follows Special Agent Tom White and his assistants as they track the killers of one extended Osage family through a closed local culture of greed, bigotry, and lies in pursuit of protection for the survivors and justice for the dead.It creates this extra dimension for the characters and the storytelling and really adds to the overall Narration for the audiobook. Britt and the sergeant had no option but to walk back across the beach and rejoin their company at the assembly point by the road bridge. Some readers may feel the urge to skim some of the mayhem, but the accomplishments of the soldiers shine through.

Against All Odds adds rich colour and context to results that have echoed through the ages, celebrating those teams who dared to dream, and triumphed over footballing giants. Although Audie Murphy turned his heroism into successful career as a B-movie star in Hollywood, his undiagnosed post-traumatic stress led to broken marriages, heavy drinking, a clash with police, and an eventual death in a plane crash in 1971. She was lucky that the nuns she was placed with were kindly and loved her and taught her a skill which got her a job when discharged after several years in care .

This book was like The Hunt for Red October, crossed with DDG-151 of The Last Ship, meets Star Trek. That is until the head of ONI needs a disposable officer to command a battered destroyer on the rim. It is remarkable to note that most of these men did not seem interested in earning medals, except for Michael Daly, who experienced a desire to surpass the valor of his father, a highly decorated World War I veteran.
