About this deal

Set in 1985 and based on a true story, Cocaine Bear begins with a drug kingpin throwing sports bags full of cocaine from an aircraft, with the aim of doing a deal with gangster Syd White (Ray Liotta, in one of his final roles) once he has leapt from the plane and opened his parachute. Unfortunately for him, his exit goes a bit wrong when he leaps and bags his head, sending him careering to the ground at a rapid pace and not being able to collect his drugs.

Universal's 2160p/HDR UHD presentation of Cocaine Bear does indeed offer a fairly stout visual upgrade over the very excellent Blu-ray, but human flesh -- to find its next fix. The drugs are scattered all over the park, and they are also all over some of the people in the park. As the bear All Roads Lead to Cokey: The Making of Cocaine Bear– Meet the hilarious ensemble brought together to bring the movie of what is soon to be the world’s most famous bear to life. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, this is not high class entertainment. This isn’t even decent middle of the road film making. This is pure D level trash entertainment that just so happens to be hilarious fun to watch. Well, as long as you’re in the right mind set. Winks at the camera, a large ensemble act of character actors (and the late Ray Liotta, may he RIP) and plenty of CGI blood, the movie is unBEARably fun if you’re into B movies. For once Elizabeth Banks has stayed away from controversial social issues and babbling off camera about her film, and instead made a modern day exploitation film whose only purpose is to entertain. The movie ain’t great, but it’s a barrel of laughs and certainly enjoyable in a pulpy, grungy sort of way. whom find themselves forced to set aside differences of objectives and personalities if they are to survive a nightmare journey into the world of theshould definitely opt for this, however. The picture and sound qualities are improved to the point of being noticeable and worthwhile. Extras are

the original issue and considering just how good the Blu-ray is, a recommendation for a repeat buy is difficult right out of the gate. First time buyers The story, then, is practically nonexistent, and that's what the film wants: any semblance of forward narrative motion is due only to the progression Cocaine Bear comes with an English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix that is downmixed to 5.1 on my configuration. This mix has deep, resounding low end, and wide panning across the front. The dynamics are excellent, and dialogue is clear over the fray of audio effects. The SupplementsTaken together, there’s plenty of interesting material contained in those two true stories that could be used to craft a genuinely fascinating feature film—and that’s not even including some of the bizarre ancillary stories surrounding what came to be known as the “Bluegrass Conspiracy.” A few weeks after Thornton’s body was discovered, a single-engine plane owned by Atlanta real estate developer David “Cowboy” Williams crashed, killing Williams, the pilot, and 15 other skydivers. The fuel tanks were contaminated by sugar and water, and while the plane had previously been grounded due to contamination concerns, the timing of the accident immediately created suspicions that it might have been sabotage by the drug smuggling operation. Williams and Thornton were known associates of each other, so the accident may not have been a coincidence. Truth is often stranger than fiction, and chronicling the events surrounding the demise of Andrew C. Thornton II could have made for a truly gripping feature film. There are about 30 minutes of bonus material included here with an audio commentary, a blooper reel, interviews, behind-the-scenes and more. Each of these segments is too short for any real info to come across, but the enthusiasm and love for the film and comedy are infectious.

UnBEARable Bloodbath: Dissecting the Kills - From rigging to special effects makeup, to some of the actors doing their own stunts, we'll get a bears-eye view into some of COCAINE BEAR's hilarious and gory kill scenes. Cocaine Bear is on 4K Ultra HD™ from Mediumrare Entertainment and is available from the 29 th May 2023time and again in white powder and red blood. It's a ridiculous premise but, if nothing else, in a world of copycat movies, this one at least aims to do a rich, lush image that just misses out on the very top tier of fine detail, but remains overall a simply gorgeous picture...
