About this deal

Alternatively, we suggest that you visit your local library and request to borrow a copy from a friendly librarian. Suddenly, Fox and Fibber find themselves on an incredible adventure in a glow-in-the-dark rainforest full of golden panthers, gobblequick trees and enchanted temples.

Thank you to Bloomsbury and LoveReading 4 Kids, for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for my review. The school environment, which was difficult and different but full of wonderful characters like Yusuf and Daisy. To begin with it was not a book I could get into but I put my trust in this book and was very glad to.Life in London is a lot different from the world that she used to live in with school and a mother that tries to make October to love her. A tender and beautifully written story of family, nature, imagination and the fear that comes with change. That is until an accident occurs hospitalising her dad and transporting her from the open country air to the hustle and bustle of the big loud city of London. A timeless, lyrical treasure that sees a girl who's at one with the wild struggle with the world beyond her woods .

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. A lovely gentle story of October, a little girl growing up off grid in a house in the woods with her dad, all is good until her dad is injured and her life changes.Take off your boots and sit by the fire with October and her father, let the eleven-year-old tell you stories about the shard of glass you found in the forest. if i wasn't crying at the story i was tearing up over the gorgeous and vivid descriptions of october's woodland home. I cared for her dad, and her mum, and Stig, and her newfound schoolfriends, and by the end I was just happy to see them be happy, even if I didn't think Balen put quite enough thought into resolving the issues that were making them unhappy in the first place. Only one of them will inherit the family fortune and so a race is afoot to save the dwindling Petty-Squabble empire and win the love of their parents. There's nothing supernatural, or magical in this book, other than the magic of a fine story well told.

The perfect Autumn read - you can almost smell the damp leaves, crisp air and smoke from a distant bonfire .However, October’s relationship with her mother leaves much to be desired and missing not only her father but also her pet owl, which has now had to be housed at a bird sanctuary, October struggles to cope with the changes in her life. However he cannot… Soon, October’s caught in the clutches of screaming hospitals, whitewashed bathrooms and the glare of the city while her father lies fighting to mend after a fall. October, October is a lovely but flawed middle grade novel whose heart shines through even its more scuffed, unpolished surfaces. This gorgeous linocut-style illustration by Angela Harding shouts out quality, a celebration of Nature and begs the book to be picked up and opened where inside you find pages in a deep burnt orange colour and an ivory-coloured illustration of an owl.
