About this deal

He praised the well constructed arrangements and some "epic" lyrics in the title track and "Luminosity".

Luminosity” has a slow but impactful opening, featuring pizzicato strings and long, languid guitar lines. The legacy of Yes surely lives on, and 'Mirror to the Sky' is a good album that aims to point out exactly this! But Howe is excellent when he does classic Yes background vocals with Billy Sherwood or Chris Squire. Around the section where Jon sings ‘We are as the stars’ there is slide guitar in the right speaker that I think should have been lower in the mix as it seems to intrude on the vocal.Cut from the Stars" was primarily inspired by Davison's first visit to a dark-sky preserve at Joshua Tree National Park with his brother and father, who encouraged him to appreciate nature. Only rarely do I actually put a CD into that ancient device in the living room known as a stereo system.

I have liked most of the bands output over the years but I could not get into Heaven and Earth and passed over The Quest, although I have checked it out on Spotify. All Connected' is for sure a nod to the years when Jon Anderson was the creative force behind many of the compositions of the band, not a bad track either.A major update arrived in the March 2023 edition of Prog magazine, which featured an interview with Howe who spoke about the album. It's not completely the Yes of the past, but there are still some spiritual connections with some eras of the band. surround sound, Dolby Atmos, Hi Res 96k/24bit stereo mixes and instrumental mixes of all album tracks. But Howe is the producer, so we hear him loud and clear on this release, where I would have chosen more Sherwood.

Davison’s vocals might dampen the impact of many songs, but it’s good to hear they’re actually writing solid songs again. The group produced two versions of "Luminosity", having felt a new arrangement was needed after recording the first. That’s why I fully support the decision to have a second CD with three bonus songs, even if they could all be on one disc. I guess that “All Connected” strikes me the same way: it’s inspired by the best Yes music of ages past, in the same way that Arc of Life is inspired, but not quite there yet in the upper echelon of Yes achievements.

In October 2021, the Yes line-up of guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, keyboardist Geoff Downes, lead vocalist Jon Davison, and bassist Billy Sherwood, with Jay Schellen guesting on percussion, released The Quest. Despite my earlier remarks about non-equal footing, this track does in fact achieve entrance into the Yes pantheon. Howe’s guitar solo around the six-minute mark is pretty decent, though it again reminds me of “Soon” and runs for too long.
