About this deal

Its e-book edition, published by HarperCollins, landed on The New York Times Best Seller list in August 2011. And it had a lot of scenery change that consumed a big chunk of time, while other HR usually happen in a matter of days,or if they do not,we just get a FIVE WEEKS LATER insert and then the story unnaturally moves on. Afterwards, Jessica promptly falls asleep, causing her husband to seethe "that was what he was supposed to do". One of the great voices in romance"--"Melinda Helfer, Romantic Times""Poignant, beautifully written.

It was fun to read a complicated hero (even if he gave incel vibes at the beginning of the book) and Jessica was such a fun heroine. This novel will appeal to readers who delight in strong and intelligent characters and to readers who want to know what makes a character tick. The lady of the house smiles while listening to the boy’s funny little antics about his whore of a mother having sex with her husband in their bed. She explains, "Having Dain be half-Italian fit so many aspects of his story: his background as well as his behavior, which does get operatic at times". The author explains that "for most of history, and in too many cases today, women are considered (and too often consider themselves) lesser beings who do not matter. I'm almost glad I didn't read this book years ago because I can't help but think that Lord of Scoundrels set the bar so high that it's only downhill from here.

Sebastian, Marquess of Dain, is a half-Italian man of unconventional appearance who has been shamed since childhood on account of his large nose and flighty mother who ditched him as a young boy to go live with another man. Dain has developed a hard, sarcastic personality; he is hostile to noblewomen, as he believes they care only for money. He is half Italian, so he has a big nose and a very awkward body as a child for which he is tormented mercilessly while at Eton, where his dad sent him when he was eight. But underneath his philandering sneer lies a complicated, self-doubting and broken man who can be gradually mended by the love of the right woman. It was the third installment of her Débauchés (also known as Scoundrels) series, following The Lion's Daughter (1992) and Captives of the Night (1994). Tough-minded Jessica Trent's sole intention is to free her nitwit brother from the destructive influence of Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Dain. Unloved by his father and told that his mother is an "evil, godless creature", [3] Sebastian is sent off to Eton where he is teased by his classmates over his appearance. Not that Kate Reading didn't do a wonderful job but I find her voice distracting sometimes especially while voicing Dain.

Now known as Lord Dain, he held quite a bit of influence over Bertie Trent, Jessica’s brother, and was driving him to ruin. This one was a force to be reckoned with, who could bring the strongest man to his knees, which she did, without humiliating anyone. He had an ugly personality and the authors nice little comment about how he will be clay in his father hands is disgusting!I was expecting something along the lines of Anne Stuart's RUTHLESS or Elizabeth Hoyt's DUKE OF SIN. You have Jessica Trent who has grown into a capable young woman who is determined to save her brother from the now grown Sebastian’s evil influence.
