About this deal

This sort of thing is unrepeatable, to go from 2nd division to Kings of Europe in 3 years is the stuff of fairytales. Overall this appears to be a shoddy attempt to cash in on Forest's rise to the Premier League by some incompetent film-maker. Trinity will handle the film's distribution, including DVD, in the UK and work to promote it globally among the club's fans, sports documentary enthusiasts, broadcasters, and platforms. Local Heroes is a sports documentary following the careers of three iconic Nottingham Forest players.

Plot: The story of how three young working-class lads from Nottingham went on to become unlikely heroes and reach the pinnacle of professional football when unfashionable Nottingham Forest, under the mercurial Brian Clough, won the European Cup not just once, but twice, in 1979 and 1980.

The film itself tells the story of three boys from Nottingham, Viv Anderson, Tony Woodcock and Garry Birtles, who all played for Nottingham Forest in the late 70s and early 80s. Browse through every TV series and movie and sort by title, release year, genre, IMDB rating, and, most important— see where to watch it. Local Heroes is set against the cultural, economic, and social backdrop of Britain in the 1970’s and is a deeply personal film in which the three recount their climb to the top of the professional game during a period of austerity and economic turmoil. Birtles, who started his career as a carpet fitter, went on to play for England and Manchester United and Woodcock’s career saw him play for Arsenal and Germany’s FC Cologne.

Anderson made history as the first black footballer to play for England, he went on to have many wins, both on and off the pitch, he was awarded an MBE in 2000 and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2004. They only add fuel to the fire that we really were a one-off in terms of what that set of players accomplished for the club, for the country and for the sport in general. All three are working-class men from Nottingham who fought their way to the top despite the obstacles they faced, which included rampant racism and discrimination. A stark reminder that professional footballers, and all athletes, are human, and have their own stuff to deal with outside of running around after a ball.

Illness, tragedy, and a shocking family discovery have touched the lives of Anderson, Birtles and Woodcock in recent times. It is not a Brian Clough tribute film, but a genuine insight into local lads who became national legends and who achieved what will never ever be done again in football -Leceisters City's incredible story is a warm up act compared to this bit of history. Set against the cultural and social backdrop of Britain in the 1970s, it focuses on how the Nottingham-born trio triumphed over adversity to achieve great success. Reelgood is the most extensive streaming guide in the US and UK, with every TV show and movie available online.Netflix adds a Rian Johnson director's commentary for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery to its streaming service. There was a recent episode on 1865 podcast where they interview Anderson, largely about the film but they also quiz him on the current setup.
