About this deal

Some people are bothered by it, and thus tend to prefer "metallic" (lacquer or ink) or "chrome" (metalized) colors. Note that the jumper plates (centre-bottom) are the newer mold design with a lip and central stud-grip; to the right of these are four 12L flexible hoses which appear in several Movie sets.

The ship is loaded with several subtle play features, but make no mistake, it’s designed to be picked up and swooshed around. Being smaller, it's far more practical than the 6X12 canopy and will make a great starting point for spacecraft. Would have been nice as said if there had been some sort of land based vehicle in the set , but its a sweet set as it is, a good parts pack for any neo-space builder. Of course, I'm biased because this set represents the ultimate in nostalgia for me, but that also brought a huge weight of expectation to this build. Classic Space is represented by the 1985 droid body, the 1978 plate with handles, and the space seat bracket which first appeared in 1984.

It's rare that a fully modern toy can invoke feelings of nostalgia, but if you grew up with Lego Space this set may just manage to do it. The inside is roomy, and the Robot Pilot sits comfortably in what is essentially a flying cockpit with wings. Includes 4 minifigures with accessories: Benny, Robo Emmet, Space Wyldstyle and Robo Pilot, plus an Astro Kitty figure. The trans-yellow canopies are stickered to produce what I suppose is a Head-Up Display; note that the 82/28 printed display tile is mounted upside down in the '28' position, for no particular reason that I can fathom. Emmet, in his hilariously unconvincing disguise as Robo Emmet, has silver muck all over his face and a little on his feet, but most exciting I think is his Piece of Resistance - that weird 1X1X2 brick with a hole in the side - which comes in Flat Silver [BL]/Silver Met.

It's great for those who like a bit of a challenge and there are extra building instructions on the official Lego site if you need a helping hand. Her excellent hoodie piece comes in plain Blue too (Element ID 6078231 | Design ID 15853), which will be much more useful than her regular multicoloured one. I’ve thought about picking up a second one for my daughter, actually, to go alongside the Shuttle Adventure set (which I would have been crazy for as a kid).As someone who came out of his dark ages after the Neo Classic Space guidelines were set, can someone please explain what is so important about fleshy heads in NCS? There were a few points where the whole length of the ship is held by a few studs, and it will likely break apart if you lift it up (you know, like the instructions tell you to do). Help the heroes fight the Robo Police interceptor (included) and raise the satellite dish to release the spacebots. The element selection of course plays a big part too, such as the 'loudspeakers' and the ribbed jet engines, and the stickered parts heavily reference designs and fonts from that era. Don’t get me wrong, I loved space stuff, but my Sci-Fi love was pretty limited to Star Wars and Star Trek… otherwise most of the stuff I built was actual rockets or space shuttle stuff.

You mention it in the section of the review about the lack of bumblebee stripes, but I'm not seeing them in any pictures. Like I said earlier, there are robots flying ships chasing after Benny’s spaceship, but most of what I remember in the movie are Micromanagers and robot skeletons fighting our heroes. Two modern printed control panels sit under red and green lights: presumably Benny has trouble remembering left from right. The cavity gets topped with a folding 6X6 webbed radar dish (Element ID 4211487 4285); a part that just screams Classic Space.
