About this deal

But i’m happy enough that something is on its way to me - still haven’t heard from Korg, but i suppose it’s academic, although i would have liked to have known if this is a known (and therefore rectified) issue. i love the modules like Melodicer that do that, i kinda hate the interface for them in modular format. The percussion track has 16 sub‑tracks that all share the same number of steps and tempo/timing of the master track, but you can program them independently for 16 channels of percussive sound over MIDI or eight over CV. It’s heavy, solid, metallic and stands less than 2cm tall, with its eight rubber feet sticking firmly to your table. Fortunately, you can hit the Global button and then the key at the intersection of B row and Polyrhythm column and change USB power from 2A to 500ma.

These can represent many things, but they most obviously offer a button for every step of a sequence — which will please anyone who’s gotten lost in the pages of 16‑step devices. Recording can be done from external MIDI input, though you will need to switch MIDI channels on the transmitting device to address each track, there is no specific track arming, you just record what you want. offset on the pitch CV, to get the output voltage to match what it should be for a given pitch using 1V/Octave. Hitting the global button allows you to set various aspects of the device so it fits with the rest of your gear, including things like 5 or 10 volts for pitch output, CC control mapping and the like. Well, it’s four sequencers in one; three melodic, with outputs for pitch, mod and gate, and one for drum patterns. It would seem to me to be more Eurorack‑appropriate to have the sockets on the top, which would solve my butt problem and also enable you to see where to plug things in. For more variation, you can rotate the gate pattern forwards or backwards, picking out different notes along the way.

So the SQ 64 is definitely released and out in the wild, I picked mine up about four weeks ago now, but from what I understand, production has been hit by Covid issues and quantities are limited. I really like the idea of the SQ-64, does anyone have time to check the “tightness” of the clock, especially when acting as a slave and then outputting to other midi devices? The 3 melody tracks include a MODULATION output, so every step on your sequence can be creating complex modulations on your gear of choice, greatly expanding your options and possibilities for sound creation. They're complimented by mode buttons and encoder knobs, which allow for efficient hands-on editing and a more refined workflow.

I mentioned earlier that the SQ-64 doesn’t just output to CV but also to MIDI which really opens things up to any gear you might care to mention, including hooking up to your DAW to sequence software instruments. For instance, Slides only appear over CV, whereas the velocity ramping in the Step Divisions will only happen over MIDI. If you have the track selected but not an individual step, you can change every step's mod by the same value, The same way you could transpose a whole track or offset a whole track in the pitch and gate lane respectively. Fill is a global Gate function that fills in the steps between the active steps, randomly adding in notes as often as the percentage you crank it to.

Reverse, Bounce, Random, and Stochastic can be selected independently and on the fly to each track to add variety and intrigue.
