The mid-palate offers some cookie dough and vanilla cream toffee before the underlying spirit takes over – copper and aluminium – very metallic – rather raw.

The flavour that literally jumps out of the glass and clings to the bubbles bursting above the surface of the drink is Green Apple: fresh, citrusy, dry Granny Smith Apple. There is a real harshness to the nose and the palate, and not much in the way of balance: a couple of flavours came through strongly out of a somewhat jumbled mess. The distillery's location within the Kingdom of Fife provides a distinct environment that influences the character of its whiskies. To create their Scotch whiskies the blending team work to a secret recipe of base, support and signature Scotch single malts to craft each bottling. There’s plenty of grassiness here – reeds, flax and freshly mowed lawn alongside some slightly alluvial clay and granite.
