About this deal

Read it and be transported away from this wretched world to the world of Middle-Earth which will take your breath away. I guess, for many it might not be the most exciting part of the book, but for me, reading it felt like I’ve made that impossible climb myself. Since they were first published, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings have been two books people have treasured. The strength of Tolkien’s work is in its fidelity to its roots, which lie in the legends of the Nordic world.

For the first time ever, a very special edition of the classic masterpiece, illustrated throughout in colour by the author himself and with the complete text printed in two colours. Produced in 1991 to promote the reissue of Tolkien under Harper Collins during the 'Tolkien Centenary' in 1992. His images – a total of seven full-page images and 57 head-pieces – are based on original designs by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.Well, what can I say… Thirty years later, I “swallowed” the trilogy in about a month – and it took me so long only because I was reading it during a very busy time and could dedicate to it only short moments before bedtime.

We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service for goods which weight less then 2kg, all other goods will be delivered by a Courier. New Reset Edition, with coloured frontispieces, full-page coloured illustrations in the text, smaller line drawings, and endpaper maps in red and black; red cloth, upper boards blocked in gilt with 'JRRT' monogram, gilt backs, a fine copy in publisher's illustrated board slip-case. Readers will be able to follow the complete story of the Hobbits and their part in the quest for the Ring – beginning with Bilbo’s fateful visit from Gandalf and culminating in the dramatic climax between Frodo and Gollum atop Mount Doom – while also enjoying over seventy full-page colour paintings and numerous illustrations which accompany this epic tale.If a refund is payable to you we will process the refund as soon as possible, and, in any case within fourteen (14) days. The Two Towers: Part Two of the Lord of the Rings -by J R R Tolkien ( Illustrations / Illustrated By Alan Lee ) ( Volume 2 / Vol.

If you're a fan of the series and want a great replacement for some old shoddy paper back etc, this is a great place to go. The books themselves are sturdy, the slipcase protects them well, the illustrations are beautiful and it just feels good to read.Alan Lee’s illustrations are a brilliant edition in both The Hobbit and the LOTR, and I think they are perfectly fine even though they are not on glossy paper. So this new edition featuring so many examples of the author's art was a no-brainer, almost a must-have. This one-volume eBook edition contains the complete text and features, for the very first time, thirty illustrations, maps and sketches drawn by Tolkien himself as he composed this epic work.

A good tip (before reading the book) for stitched bindings like these is to lay it open with the front and back boards laying flat on a flat clean surface (remove dust jacket first), while holding the pages of the book upright. Other cancelled products: If you want to cancel products that are not damaged or incorrectly supplied, then you must inform us of this within seven working days following the date of receipt in accordance with the Distance Selling Regulations or otherwise as soon as possible. The unjacketed book features illustrated boards and includes a silk ribbon marker, and is housed in a special transparent slipcase; together with Alan's beautiful paintings, this new presentation of this landmark work provides the reader with the ultimate edition with which to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its first publication. I did read “The Hobbit”, but eyeing its three-volume monstrosity of a sequel, I realised it’s not what I want to spend my time on. Boxed gift set of Tolkien’s classic masterpieces, fully illustrated throughout in watercolour by the acclaimed artist, Alan Lee.
