The entire beginning of their relationship is totally tainted by the absolutely worst scene in the book (if you've read it, you know what I'm talking about). It's a f/f romance which develops between a brash detective in Dallas homicide and her newly assigned Partner (who did not realise she was actual a lesbian). And though we know in 2019 that Abby Craden has honed her craft to where she's one of the very best narrators in the business, this was recorded in 2015. Way too much happening for one small team to handle, and then Hunter does even more and gets into ~unexpected~ and ~totally random~ dangerous situations/opportunities to catch bad guys. OK so this book has put me off gerri hill for ever I couldn't finish it , the rape scene was handled so badly and totally unnecessary and the bit immediately after was just so unbelievable in a bad way .

Gerri Hill should not renege on her responsibilities to her largely female readers, she should include a warning when she uses scenes of violence against women in her books. But I really liked both MC's (especially Tori) and Gerri Hill's writing style is awesome and I enjoy it very much. Stalker BF not getting the hint: how does Sam sound so sick of it in the description and then is almost agreeable on the phone?I'm still listening to this but I have to say that the performance is really marred for me by the over-enunciation of the narrator. Message is finally received and the bad guy is pursued and finally caught, which is the more interesting part of the story. You can enjoy a life filled with social interactions and experiences but also have the opportunity to settle away in our quiet community to relax.
