About this deal

Playing against other seasoned board gamers can lead to some pretty interesting back and forth’s as you attempt to send your opponent’s penguin adrift on their own tiny iceberg island while you roam free snapping up all the fish on the mainland. With plucky bands of penguin miniatures to choose from and high-quality hexagonal tiles with which to create your fishing grounds, players will be engrossed by this Antarctic adventure from their first catch. Even though it is a simple game there is still an air of strategy to it for more experienced board gamers. years after its original release, Next Move Games is making sure the penguins continue to get their fish. Consult The Google for variations—my personal one is a large hex with the center hex/ice flow missing.

A random distribution of all tiles is encouraged, so swap out tiles as necessary to keep any clusters of two or three fish from forming. If you enjoy board games with friends but find it frustrating explaining things for half an hour before you get started, here's the game to go for.Two or three moves in, you'll realise that simple game mechanics doesn't mean a simple game - you're playing on a board that disintegrates as you go along, leading to rapidly increasing risk of getting stranded. is a simple tile collection game which has so few rules it can be taught and played in under 5 minutes which makes it a great game for kids, people looking for a light starter and simpletons like me.

On each player's turn, the player moves one of his/her penguins in a straight line as far as he/she wishes, as long as there is a continuous line of vacant hexagons between the penguin's starting and destination hexagons. There's plenty of room for strategy and thinking ahead as you maneuver your penguins, pick up fish and try to cut off your opponents. Anyway, with luck, your penguins will go sliding around the board, hoovering up all the fish and leaving your competition stranded on small blocs with not-very-many fish. While it’s easy to focus on the three-fish ice floes—the highest fish count there is on any of the tiles—there is a possibility that doing so might cause a greedy penguin to be cut off from the larger board. Once the player has moved their penguin they are then able to pick up the tile where they started their turn from and place it face-up in front of them. I picked up this game for my 2 sons as a gateway game into more advanced table top games, the game is simple which is what i wanted and helps with their planning skills.

Every move in Hey, that’s my Fish matters so much because the playing area is so tight and from that first move you’re already punching holes in it, creating divides, creating ever-thinner lanes of travel that your penguins and everyone else’s must try to squeeze through. Players must move their penguins every turn, unless they cannot move to a tile adjacent to the ice floe tile they are currently on. When a penguin leaves a tile, the player removes it and puts it into their fish stash, leading to an ever-shrinking board. I could tell, at one point, that he was near a sort of “peninsula” full of fish and made a go for it.But the instant he saw me doing that he moved his penguin one single tile space toward the fishpile. Players take turns using their waddle of penguins to outmanoeuvre their opponents and catch as many fish as they can without being trapped on an ice floe! The first time I played this game, with Tiffany Ralph, she said it takes about as long to lay out all those hexes as it does to carve them up and scurry away with your dinner.
