About this deal

In case you missed it the first forty-five times it’s mentioned, Ama likes donuts and has a nut allergy that is both deadly and apparently not that bad.

I know I've been very absent since 2020 started and it's mostly because this year has gotten off to quite the rocky start for me.

The relationship wasn't developed at all—they like to bone and good for them but why do they actually like each other? Or that he got a tattoo of amaryllis that's the name of girl and is a flower specie on his chest like right near his heart. I don't want to dwell on it, but I just wanted to let y'all know I'm still alive (if very very distracted). I enjoyed taking in the backstory and the present in tandem, getting the tension while also wondering what caused them to go their separate ways before the story began. That’s saying something too because I just got glasses so I’ve been seeing things in a whole new light, but this cover still takes the cake.

I also understood Elliot's hesitation to Ama, but absolutely adore his continued commitment of love to her even though she rejected him in the past.In a year when wedding planning novels seem to be the latest trend (and I should know, I have read a few recently) this tops all of the others and definitely one you should read. When Ama started her own business, she eventually warmed her way into Elliot's heart, and they started doing business together, which developed into something much more meaningful over time, and they fell in love.

I loved her passion for wedding planning but at some point her whole personality was "wedding planning" and her longing for Elliot. The main characters didn't spend much time in the same room, and Elliott's backwards narration made me a little impatient. I'm not usually a fan of this trope, however, it made perfect sense why Ama was so reluctant to marriage and ended her relationship with Elliot. Also I’ve been posting a ton of historical romance lately (bc I’m truly in my historical romance era right now), but I wanted to break that up and finally post a contemporary review!

She was funny and like-able, she loves donuts and her cat is a menace—honestly all the ingredients you need for a fantastic FMC, for me anyway. it also felt like it took tooo long for us to get to the end and then when we got there, it was so quick. This time when we kiss, it doesn't feel like goodbye, or a mistake, or something to overthink in the morning. I usually feel pretty disconnected when it comes to books that constantly switch between present and past timelines, but here it felt so easy. There is no better feeling than finding a new author that just blows your expectations out of the water. I think she did a wonderful job making the town come to life, it was a real love letter to the place and when I looked it up after reading it was exactly how I had pictured it.When they weren’t at odds with each other—I loved seeing them create magic with their work and be supportive of one another when it came to their dreams.
