About this deal

I actually began painting when a thought struck me: how do I know if I’ve used too much or too little water? There’s absolutely no loss of detail on any part of them, and the colour still pops (well, as far as a dark green over a black basecoat is ever going to pop). Around the edge of the cover is a stiff, rigid rubber seal or gasket that locks into the bottom tray. I have been very impressed with the prototype and these could be the next BIG ting since Stephan Rath and his figure holders! Following these simple tips will help keep your RGG palette membrane clean and working properly for a long time.

Well, if you’ve added too little, your paints will dry start to go dry, and patches of the hydration paper will also remain dry to the touch. However, while a dry palette tends to dry too fast, most regular wet palettes tend to over dilute the paint with too much water. You’ll have to remove the hydration foam and paper to use the glass palette inside the plastic tray. This is a surprisingly "low tech" way to do it, but it works, and it solves one of my biggest problems with past handle.

I was able to relay my used paper and work on it again without any deterioration to the paper’s surface. It’s currently October 5th and the picture I took is a confirmation picture that the paint is still useable. This can be helpful, especially if you are new to painting miniatures, as it can be difficult to hold the miniature steady when you don’t have a good grip on it. In my brief time as a hobbyist – and ever briefer career writing for this site – I have seen some truly horrific crimes against palette-use: people using warped old takeaway box lids, others who have used the same palette for decades, have never cleaned them, and have allowed their paints to coalesce into gargantuan, tumour-like growths of rock-hard acrylic.Although most of us in the miniature painting community use acrylic paints, oil painting miniatures is becoming a popular part of the hobby. I mentioned this use to Vivien who has said that they will look into a possible solution to their design with this function in mind. In summary I have enjoyed using the Everlasting wet palette more than any other I have tried previously. But if you aren’t using a palette at all, then I assume you are scooping your paints straight out of the pot and splurging them onto your miniatures with no dilution, which is a thousand times worse than any of the above. The reusable membrane and slide-lock system are great additions, and the glass palette is a nice bonus.

The Painter 2 feels more honed, more refined, ever-so-slightly more complete and coherent a product. If you felt cramped by the smaller Everlasting wet palette, then you'll definitely appreciate the expanded room here. Available in the only bundle you will ever need: 50 hydration paper sheets custom-made for miniature painting, 2 anti-mold foam pads, 1 Everlasting Wet Palette Painter Lite in high quality ABS, Unique and long lasting integrated TPE seal for better air tightness. The once-cleaned palette worked very well, but the paints dried a little sooner compared to completely new paper. I waited until the majority of the water was absorbed by the foam and then added a few more drops until the foam was soggy and saturated to the touch. The included palette paper–the venerated “reusable” everlasting hydration membrane–is durable and provides multiple cycles of use before you need to replace it. I was able to put the Khorne Red straight onto the weapons of my Assault Intercessors without any difficulties at all, and after a good four or five coats, the colour was really starting to look rather good. One thing to note, though, is, as FauxHammer kindly demonstrates in the image below, the palette isn’t as watertight as it could be. While it is pricier than most, if not all, of it’s close competitors, and functions similarly, I think many of us pro or casual painters would love using this premium-looking, highly functional palette on a regular basis. I often run into the problem of accidentally rubbing paint off minis as I paint them, so this is one way to avoid that.
