About this deal

you don't have a way to detect if the current is coming from battery, from AC passthrough, or from solar/PV. For example, our ASHP has always been 'on' 24/7/52, with usage controlled entirely by the room stats (so it's not really operating this time of year). The app will then split out the energy consumption the smart plug is reporting, so you know precisely how much energy is being consumed by whatever device is plugged into it. The Vue monitors the total energy use and solar net metering of your home through a simple iOS or Android app. Another one of the app’s great features is its ability to produce push notifications if the energy consumption on a given circuit exceeds or falls below a defined threshold.

The Emporia Vue Gen 2 also uses two sensors attached to your mains, but it comes with 16 additional sensors that you’ll attach to individual circuits inside your electrical panel. I spent about 5 hours thinking there was some way I could get it to compile on a raspberry pi 4 with 4gb ram- including switching to the 32bit version, but it still wont work. I've run the open energy software on a home baked system for quite a long time and haven't had any issues with it. I did need to set my own sntp server (network doesn't allow traffic to the outside) but that didn't help. You can reach it over the net, but it will keep turning things on/off, running the thermostat, monitoring motion, and everything completely without the network. About me: potential new user of Domoticz, just learned about it and reading this forum it seems a really great community. Hey guys - I've been looking into home energy monitoring, and I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on the 2 main products I've run across. Edit > I'm not saying one method is better than the other, just saying for me this is overall easier and more maintainable, at least until we can compile it on ARM.

The instructions for the Emporia indicate that it doesn't matter which of the three 200A circuits you plug into. Several high profile players have already closed down services when the cost of providing server bandwidth for free became unviable. It supports either single-phase up to 240VAC line-neutral; single, split-phase 120/240VAC; and three-phase up to 415Y/240VAC (no Delta). But, in cases where it can be installed, it would have been nice to see a drill bit included for making an appropriately-sized hole. From a quick perusal, seems like the iota watt covers monitoring pretty well, but I didn’t see anything indicating switching/control. I think there might be a way to do it OTA but I like to eyeball the circuit before putting it into service.

These charts are adjustable from seconds to years and by metrics, like Amps, Gal of Gas, Car Miles, Carbon, Trees or the Dollars and watt hours shown above. The other end of the connector is wired into a standard UK 3-pin plug which is plugged into a wall socket. Products shown, tagged or featured on YouTube by creators are sold by merchants and are subject to merchant's terms and conditions.Inside the CU is the only place where the wires should (reliably) be individually accessible in a standard install. The device has two 200A clamps which need to go around the L and N supply leads into the distribution box. Of course if you want to monitor individual circuits then you'd need something else - but the Emporia system seems to be a less useful system than emonPi or the emoncms software on your own system with an emonTx.

I’m interested to use these to control on/off schedule on a 7-day schedule - will these fit that bill? APPLIANCE MONITORING WITHOUT GUESSWORK: Comes with eight 50A sensors to accurately monitor your air conditioner, furnace, water heater, washer, dryer, range, etc. They also sell a solar suppliment, not sure why that would be needed maybe just if you have >16A of solar. But more importantly, the electrician hired to install the Emporia Gen 2 Vue for this review noted some serious noteworthy quirks.
