About this deal

My jungle was one of meetings and late-night gigs – my baby monkey was far too noisy and sticky to survive here. as co-presenter of The Mash Report alongside fellow comedians Nish Kumar and Rachel Parris, as team captain on ITV2's panel show Fake Reaction or from popping up on C4′s 8 Out of 10 Cats. I'm a big fan of Ellie Taylor - I think she's hilarious, and as a fellow Essex girl I can relate to her a lot of her anecdotes.

Pat McAfee is 'sick' of criticism aimed at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after the Chiefs' AFC title victory: 'Why is everybody so mad?

She enjoyed family togetherness during the pandemic, but also admits, ‘The day the nurseries reopened was the best of my life.

The place is colourful and chaotic, full of lefty parents keen to sign permission slips for their child to partake in activities like yoga and Mandarin classes. If you come on stage and the audience doesn’t like you it’s because women aren’t funny, whereas if a male comes out and bombs it’s just on him,’ she says. My Child and Other Mistakes is the honest lowdown on Motherhood and all its grisly delights, asking the questions no one wants to admit to asking themselves – do I want a child?

Well, because I am mother to a 5 month old and am currently at the stage of craving anything that makes me feel ‘seen’. Ellie was one of five UK comedians to be featured in Netflix’s trailblazing Comedians of The World series, with her special Cravings premiering on New Year’s Day 2019. During the final chapter, she was snuggled up in my arms at about 9pm, after an hour and a half of trying to settle her down into her own bed to go to sleep, and feeling zombie-like, desperate for some alone time relaxing with her dad downstairs, and willing the small monster to settle to sleep, whilst reading a beautiful account from Ellie of how all these frustrating and draining moments are so worth it for the snuggles and the joy - and I really appreciated that reminder that we are all going through the same ups and downs but that we wouldn't want to change a thing. Ellie is also hosting her own Radio 4 show, ELLIE TAYLOR'S SAFE SPACE, the second series of which will air in 2021 . Ellie’s contribution, as a happy ‘non-mother’, was to put up photos of herself asleep cradling a wine bottle, captioned ‘such special memories’.Remind your brain, as utilitarian as it sounds, that each of us has a role to play in a family, even our children. The sentiments themselves were amusing, but the way that the author expressed them throughout the book had me literally laughing out loud (the neighbours thought I was mad as I listened to the audiobook on my dog walks around our village). So lovely to read about someone else's experiences and to reflect on the early days of having my first son (it's a bit different second time round as know more what to expect! One of the biggest moments in Ellie’s career came in a sketch she did for The Mash Report, where she played an immaculate newsreader announcing that ‘Women everywhere have told everyone to ‘“Just f*** off.

I absolutely love Ellie she’s one of my favourite comedians so was excited to see she had a book out and I got approved for an ARC. Her thoughts on motherhood are especially honest and she lays bare how hard it is but also how rewarding she has found it. As someone without kids I wasn't sure I'd appreciate this book as much as I should, but I was very wrong. When I do see my daughter again, and she runs towards me with a beaming gappy smile yelling, ‘Mama’s here! Horrifying, heartbreaking and eye-opening, these are the stories, the patients and the cases that have characterised a career spent behind bars.Ellie has a fun and friendly narrative throughout whilst still highlighting important issues (miscarriage, post labour care, PND) and even more importantly being honest when she is not well informed in certain areas. Yes – we require all films to be 6 minutes or under, to be entirely original dialogue, to not feature brand logos and most importantly, to only use music with the written consent of the performer and/or publisher either personally or via the PRS system https://www. The narration by the author herself really helped with this, as it infused some otherwise daring statements with warmth and personality. Not just a very honest book about becoming a mother but a very very honest book about being a woman and navigating all the choices and not-choices that this involves. It then travels through via various highlights and lowlights including; the pregnancy itself, childbirth, navigating the early days of life with a new-born, and of course, motherhood.
