About this deal

All fans of Psycho [book or movie], TX Chainsaw Massacre, Silence of the Lambs, really any oder fictional slasher needs to read this. Ed, esattamente come Dhamer, diventa poi, incredibilmente, una leggenda nera, a proposito della quale tutti vogliono dire la loro e sapere qualche dettaglio. If that row of warehouses really did exist, entire shelves would be dedicated to the work of Harold Schechter.

could easily have been exploitative, but is much more respectful, especially in its depiction of Gein's victims and those left wondering what made this man do what he did. I love Eric Powell‘s art, but I usually don’t like his writing, so I’ve avoided his comics over the years because the art can’t quite save the writing (I know I say that art is more important than writing in comics, but it’s not the only thing). Sarjakuvapuolelta suosittelisin tämän rinnalle ainakin Derf Backderfin erinomaista Ystäväni Dahmeria ja pienin varauksin myös Jeff Jensenin Green River Killer: A True Detective Storya.I highly recommend the OGN for those who can stomach the subject matter, but go in with the knowledge that some things are shifted or invented for the purposes of narrative. Perfect for readers who enjoy the stories of the sensationalistic press of the 1930s and its crass exploitation of the details of horrific murders. But trust me, you will need a strong stomach to read this, unless of course you are one of the hardened True Crime aficionados. Vomit is caused, among the aforementioned act of self harm, by the impossibility of facing a situation that is, by its very constitution, an insult to life – some horrible thing.

It's a horrifying read and I expected nothing less given the subject matter, and let's not forget he was inspiration behind some of horror's most prolific characters to date. This "dramatic" retelling of Gein's life and crimes wants desperately to be the latter, but I have the sinking feeling it is more of the former. What does the fact that he denies killing people mean, even when there is so much evidence pointing to his being obviously guilty? Will Eisner Comic Industry Award: 2008 Best Painter or Multimedia Artist --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

I’ve definitely seen graphic formatting add more to historical events, either through the visual literacy aspects of graphic novels or through contextualizing complex or heavy subject matter, especially for younger audiences. One of the greats in the field of true-crime literature, Harold Schechter (Deviant, The Serial Killer Files, Hell's Princess), teams with five-time Eisner Award-winning graphic novelist Eric Powell (The Goon, Big Man Plans, Hillbilly) to bring you the tale of one of the most notoriously deranged murderers in American history, Ed Gein. uses the facts of Ed Gein’s life to tell you a story so compelling, so expertly rendered, and compassionately told, it will confront your capacity for empathy and have you questioning what you consider your truth.

Unfortunately, there are–and will probably always be–people in whom, for whatever reasons of upbringing, neurological damage, etc. The early mention of Psycho and the inclusion of it (and other well known serial killer fiction) essentially bookend this ugly chunk of Wisconsin history. I’ll start with a little confession: I spent most of this book reading the dialogue in a Fargo-esque Midwest accent, so I invite you to do the same here. Eddie is portrayed as a bumbling fool at times, but the author and artist show he might have a much more sinister side, which I 100% believe.
