About this deal

Honestly, Cassandra says this is the smoothest azelaic acid product that Cassandra has ever used in her entire life. I love the texture of this cream because it is quite thin and spreads easily over the skin and doesn’t interfere with products that I layer over it…moisturiser and SPF.

To see significant visible changes in your skin, it will take some patience and persistence with your treatment plan.

If you’re interested in their prescription retinoid plan but you’re not sure if it’s right for you, take a look at my full review here. OTC means that this isn’t prescription skincare, unlike Dermatica’s custom prescription options ( more on that here). Potassium azeloyl diglycinate is an OTC derivative of azelaic acid with better solubility meaning it feels less crunchy, and it's easier to dissolve. You can check out Deciem’s regimen guide for conflicts with Azelaic, they list other strong acids (because of the risk of over exfoliation), EUK-134 (as is sensitive to low pH) and peptides (for the same reason). When you sign up online, you answer a questionnaire about your skin, upload selfies and flag up what you’d like your serum to address.

Then the brand’s team of East London-based dermatologists and pharmacists prescribe and formulate your personal potion, using the best ingredients to tackle your concerns.Exfoliants and toners containing salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic or lactic acids should be avoided. In the first few weeks of using Azelaic cream from Dermatica I’ve experienced a reduction in my acne, I haven’t had a big outbreak or any cystic spots. Depending on your skin, the prescription will have different amounts of azelaic acid and different supplemental ingredients. From the first photo at the top of this blog back in November when I got home from holidays, I waited a few months as I wanted to finish all of my existing products.

Benefits Reduces the appearance of breakouts and redness Fades dark spots, blemishes and acne marks Refines skin tone and improves brightness Science Azelaic Acid Naturally occurring in wheat, barley and rye, Azelaic Acid is a powerful antioxidant which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties making it highly effective against blemishes and redness. For my skin type at least, I think the key to using the Skin Glow treatment is to take it VERY slowly. However, despite our best efforts to deliver your parcel on time, sometimes Royal Mail experience problems with their deliveries, they have advised us that deliveries may take up to 10 working days. My serum contains tretinoin, a gold-standard retinoid that’s only available on prescription (another bonus of the service – their pharmacists can offer this). I’ve only been using the products a week so hard to tell , my face is a little red and dry at the moment but that’s normal for me when using a new product.

I was a user of azelaic acid prior to this so newbies may have to adjust slowly due to the initial tingling you can get when first starting out. She absolutely loves this one, and Dermatica also has coupons that give you the first two months free. This is the product that has single handedly made the biggest difference to my skin and I’m so pleased with the way it looks now.I started to get into a cycle of using the treatment for a few days, experiencing dryness, waiting for it to clear up and then trying again. I've been using it for 6 months with Dermatica controlling the strength of the creams supplied to suit. I am a long time Dermatica user and attribute my current good skin to their online prescription service. I switched to Dermatica after seeing a GP for almost a year about my skin - only to be offered antibiotic treatments which did nothing to help my acne. It hasn't got rid of any dark spots, but it evens my skin out so much and makes it look so much healthier.
