About this deal

To use the Cuttlebug, you place it on a flat surface and simultaneously open both sides so they are parallel with your table.

While you can use your Cricut Explore or Maker to emboss (just check out this tutorial by Clever Someday to find out how), embossing with the Cuttlebug is very straightforward. It isn’t able to cut hundreds of materials and there is no Cricut Design Space to prompt you about what to do next.

I know I could use the embossed image on just part of my card, but honestly this is not worth the expense. The marker pen hardly showed up black on black, and because the acrylic is opaque rather than clear, I couldn’t place my drawing behind and trace through, so I wasn’t sure how accurate I was being, and I was working in reverse too. Sturdy page inserts for the binder hold various sizes of dies and folders, including A2, 2" x 2", 3" x 3", and 2" x 6".

It works just fine for printing etchings and relief prints, however it is limited by its size, printing to a maximum of approximately 14 x 18 cms.Align the embossed section with the design in the folder before running the folder through the machine again.

Because I have a Cricut Expression machine for cutting paper, I was less interested in that feature, but I couldn’t wait to start embossing! Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. Also, because the Cuttlebug doesn’t require Cricut Design Space (or a computer/tablet/smartphone, or internet access), you also don’t have the helpful prompts and videos to guide you through your first project. The Cricut Cuttlebug manual die cutting and embossing machine offers a simple, low-tech option for cutting and embossing a wide variety of materials. This is Leftovers VI, and instead of my usual linocut, I created this drypoint etching of a farmer ploughing a field in the Welsh countryside. This is the tool that I used to create marks on the surface of the acrylic; a set of compasses wrapped with masking tape to make it easier to hold.
