Publisher Bella Pagan acquired UK and British Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Anna Carmichael at Abner Stein.Thing is, Reyna works as one of the Queen’s private guards, and Kianthe is the most powerful mage in existence. More and more people seem to be realizing the emptiness of grind culture and that no matter how much of your life you sacrifice to your career, it never guarantees your employer’s loyalty.

Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea and A Pirate’s Life for Tea are both available to purchase in e-book from Tor UK who will publish the former book in hardback and other formats, with a new cover style, in spring 2024. Meanwhile, Kianthe has been waiting for a chance to flee responsibility–all the better that her girlfriend is on board. we were told over and over again that they were so deeply in love, but we never really saw it (or felt it). I really liked the premise, but think the book suffered from a lack of identity, wavering between "cozy " and high-stakes fantasy. We can have high stakes, all the makings and adventure of a traditional high fantasy, and still be cozy.Worn wooden floors, plants on every table, firelight drifting between the rafters… all complemented by love and good company.

Although I wish Gossley had been developed a bit more for having a purpose beyond, seemingly, only existing to make Reyna look like a better and more empathetic person, I enjoyed the dynamic between him and Reyna nonetheless in between Kianthe and Reyna's never-ending banter. What follows is a tale of mishaps, mysteries, and a murderous queen throwing the realm’s biggest temper tantrum. It often doesn't resolve their issues either, as neither are actually good communicators who talk properly through their problems, and Kianthe in particular is riddled with personal issues which she refuses to convey to Reyna, despite insisting her girlfriend must share all her issues, and it only causes problems for the two of them.

Worn wooden floors, plants on every table, firelight drifting between the rafters – all complemented by love and good company. It also centers two women so deeply committed to each other and to their dream in a way that just made my heart feel full. There was lots of humour that did actually make me laugh/smile at times (and then despair of myself in the case of some of the puns). Do you love reading books by the fire, warming your hands with a hot mug of tea, surrounded by beautiful houseplants and the cuddly embrace of your partner? This story is also slightly more tense, and we get a possible mystery involving dragon eggs which makes for far reaching consequences, which I’m sure will come to fruition in the rest of the series.

This unfortunately massively missed the mark for me, promising a cosy fantasy with a great lesbian couple and delivering. you don't have to do this through using pronoun pins or clumsily explaining away the use of gender neutral pronouns as coming from a culture that you tell us literally nothing else about. I loved Legends and Lattes so I was excited to hear all the comparisons people were making about these two books, but, unfortunately for me, they were not similar where is mattered.

You can feel the Legends and Lattes inspiration, but Can't Spell Treason is almost a different animal than its predecessor.
