About this deal

In those two parts of the book Father Amorth explains things about exorcisms that I did not now of until reading this book. This man is harping on about his version of ABSOLUTE TRUTH with EVERYTHING ELSE being a doorway to Satan himself.

I truly hope who ever reads this takes in all he can and realises what's going on in the spiritual world. His book (first published about 1987), which widely includes the teachings of his teacher and mentor Father Candido Amantini (died in 1992), was intended to remedy this deplorable state of affairs and had soon some positive effect. I will include a quote from "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas Kempis: "He who follows me walketh not in darkness. Amorth is brutally honest in revealing some dark secrets that failures in exorcism is quite common when the possession is deep rooted for many years in the victim.Although he admits some Protestants are more inclined to fight demons than Catholics, he's rigid in the way that it can be done. it deals with a subject many would relegate to the dark ages - the belief in infernal powers and satanic influences. In this powerful book, the renowned exorcist of Rome tells of his many experiences in his ministry as an exorcist doing battle with Satan to relieve the great suffering of people in the grip of evil. You can tell straight away that demons are involved, except when you can't and have to work it out later. The devil claimed he could destroy the church if given 75 to 100 years, and greater power over those who would surrender to the devil.

To me the chapter from a viewpoint of a formerly possessed person was absolutely indistinguishable from a PoV of a mental health patient. While I enjoyed listening to the experiences in exorcism throughout the book, I feel that this could have been even better had he just relayed the alleged stories, instead of preaching his religion. The two books An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories are not official Roman Catholic documents, rather personal accounts of his office as Exorcist. If getting in touch and receiving power from demons was so easy, it would have been a recognized truth of the world, a commonly known fact like the shape of the earth (which some still deny). The author talks about signs to recognize demonic possession, yet says you cannot be certain until exorcism is attempted and you can't tell for sure even after one of two sessions.

I was raised Catholic and find so many of the Catholic traditions beautiful, meaningful, important, significant, and filled with truth. It is a matter of fact presentation of the reality of the spiritual realm by a man who touched it without fear every day. I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in acquiring true knowledge of the Spiritual battle with mankind's greatest enemy. The author (died in 2016), chief exorcist of the diocese of Vatican, adheres strictly to the Catholic faith and interprets his experiences in this frame of understanding. He also reminds the general public of the reality of this problem, and how one may become subject to demonic influences. In this it largely fails as a lot of the time exorcism does not resolve the problem, or it takes years. This is a terrifying book - not because it sets out any convincing evidence of demonic activity (it doesn't! This is a fantastic book and very interesting and informative a great book to read if your a catholic like myself or if your wondering about whether or not Satan or god actually exists because when you actually realise that Satan and his demons are out there then you know god must be there just a much too it’s well written and this book has never been more needed than it is now the worlds running around looking for great careers, holidays, fun, violence, alcohol and drugs etc. but because it so clearly demonstrates the horrifying logical contortions the human mind is capable of once it has discounted all possibility of its initial premise being wrong.
